=============NEW Titbit==========================
Act before you think or think before you act?
================================
Today’s titbit is a little different. I want to tell you a true story that
happened this last
week that truly amazed me. The heroine of the story is my physiotherapist of
3 years,
a wisp of a girl about 26 years old whose name is Maria.
Maria was driving along the main street of her neighbourhood at 11 am last
Wednesday in heavy traffic. She was in front of the bank and saw an old lady
come
out. She saw the man driving the car in front of her reach out the window
and grab
the old lady’s bag. She started honking and screaming “Thief! Police! Throw
out the
bag!” The car in front started speeding up and ducked into a side street.
Maria
followed him. He kept trying to dodge and shake her off, but Maria stuck to
him like
glue (she is an excellent driver) for about 20 minutes, violating stop
signs, making
screeching turns… a virtual car chase! She kept honking and screaming the
same
“Stop thief! Police!” throughout. Eventually, the man who apparently did not
know
the area so well, tried to speed through a school road with safety bumps on
the
pavement at 80 km per hour, the car turned over, he dragged himself out and
ran
away. Maria finally stopped and called the police. The purse was still in
the car and
the car was stolen. To make a long story short, the police captain offered
her a job in
the Police Force without exams if she wants it, which, of course, she turned
down!
Why am I telling you this story and what does it have to do with online
marketing?
Well, what Maria did was an impulsive act. Much as I admire her courage and
initiative, she didn’t think of the consequences before taking off after the
thief. He
could have had a gun. She could have gotten into an accident during that mad
car
chase. The only thing she was thinking of was that she was angry with that
thief. It
was pure luck that she came out of it a heroine.
The question of the day is how many times do you act on impulse? How often
do
you join programs “just because”, buy advertising because it “looks good”,
make
serious business decisions on a gut feeling? How often do your impulsive
decisions
turn out well?
When it comes right down to it, do you think before you act or do you act
before you
think?

Re: Basic knowledge for internet business
From: Elaine Currie
I am replying to the unhappy message from Nada Tomanek. Firstly, I would
like to
congratulate her for being prepared to keep trying even though she has
obviously
received little in the way of help or good advice.
I decided to start an online business with no previous experience, no
technical
knowledge and basically no idea what I was doing. Looking back, I realise
that I was
ideal prey for scams, hype and any other bad thing lurking on the internet.
I was so
lucky. It is because of this lucky experience that I do my best to help
anyone who
wants to succeed with an online business.
My story is that I tried one affiliate business and was a complete failure.
Fortunately, it cost me very little and the experience helped me to
recognise my own
shortcomings and the risks I faced. I have since met people who struggled
for years
before they found their niche on the internet.
My lucky break was in finding (by accident) the Plug In Profit Site (PIPS)
opportunity. I would sincerely recommend this to anyone with little or no
online
business experience. It changed my life for the better.
The things that make the difference are the method and quality of tuition
and
ongoing support plus the fact that the programme itself is constantly
growing and
improving.
Empowerism is included as a core feature of the Plug In Profit Site and also
offers
impeccable training of its own. I have built a special training website for
my
Empowerism downline and I am working on my own Plug In Profit training site
to
add to the others already available.
I hope this helps and, if Nada does nothing else, I suggest she tests out
Empowerism
training.

Re: Basic knowledge for internet business
From: Kenneth R Sword Jr
Hello everyone. My first at this but I think I can answer Nada's question.
To reply to Nada Tomanek's problem.
Number one thing I read in your post is "no faith in yourself". I'm not
trying to be
cruel. Words are very powerful and how you say things can make you or break
you.
Before marketing your product I do suggest to try this first.
Before you select your product you need a web host.
This is a place where you get to store (securely) your website. You need to
sign up.
Select a name (your site address). This is the tricky part because you don't
know
what or how you are selling yet, or do you?
I say this because you are right now entertaining the idea of your own
business. You
know of something you are knowledgeable about.
========================================
Sidebar
========================================
I bring up of getting a website first (free site) is so you have time to get
a feel for
how to use it. Practice setting up a info page about yourself, what your
intent for
your website is and so forth.
If you are experienced with website design do this part anyway to start
getting
yourself exposed on the web.
========================================
End sidebar
========================================
The next 10 days you will spend soul searching and start telling the world
about
yourself. Remember, to sell anything you have to be believed that you the
expert at
what you sell. So you have to sell yourself first.
What better thing to start with is your knowledge.
You have a "day" job. You have a hobby or two.
You read. You have children. You have friends.
You own your favorite car. Get the picture?
Maybe you are the neighborhood "fix-it" person.
You bake pies and cakes. I know, enough.
So, with what you know, do the next step.
You can use Google for this.
Using keywords research the topic.
Also research newsgroups.
www.groups.google.com
How much demand is for YOUR information or product?
If you feel there is a need for what you know then go with it.
If the market is saturated, don't worry, find an angle to specialize. Be
creative. This is
YOUR BUSINESS.
Now, you see we all know something. So START with that.
Pick a name(s) for your site and then go to
www.whois.net and see if the name is
available.
If it is you are one step closer to getting started.
Next is finding a host. Oh, how much is this going to cost?
ZEROOOOO!!! (Remember I said earlier free site?)
My suggestions are for free hosting:
www.freeservers.com
www.freehosting.net
www.bizhosting.com
These are owned by United Online, parent company for Juno and NetZero.
I DO NOT have an affiliation, nor do I get paid to advertise them in any
way. I do
use them for some of my sites.
Others you can check out are:
Yahoo - Geocities
Lycos - Tripod
There are many more so don't think you have to pay huge amounts of money to
get
started.
And most free host have an easy to setup interface to start designing your
site. They
include templates, counters, image folders, site email that can be
forwarded, guest
books, topic boards and more.
Most included FREE.
So, go get your site started. Sell yourself and your name to become a
trusted person
in whatever you do.
Then consider what you market. Make sure to research it too. and do the same
thing.
Start small. a couple of sales. Register a domain name and then host it.
Design pages
or pre-made is fine, upload, advertise, affiliate, link and link and link,
especially to
your personal page you created and built for your name to be trusted.
May your dreams come true in 2005,
Feel free to stop by my site and sign up for my FREE newsletter that talks a
lot about
what I give you here.
I'll send you newsletters in increments with dated byte sized steps that
walk you
through the process. Each newsletter is like a lesson. Do this for so many
days. Next
letter arrives as you finish your last latter.

RE: Response to: Nada Tomanek
From: Russ Wilson/Webintel
Nada:
I believe your question is one that everyone that markets on the web; or
even in the
'brick and mortar' world has faced at the beginning of attempting to build a
profitable, successful business.
One answer might be: Find what really interests you first. Do you have a
hobby?
What are your Better skills? What do you really love enough to spend 10-14
hours a
day or more doing?
When you've honestly answered those questions, you'll discover just what
business
you should pursue to reach your goals, and if it's something you really
love, then
you'll also know enough about it to build it into a business. The rest is
just learning
through different channels how to use the internet to your best advantage,
and the
forums at Adland are a great source of that kind of information.
I wish you the greatest success on your journey of self discovery.

Andrew:
The web is a mind boggling place, and it's easy to grasp at every "wonderful
fantastic, newest, greatest, etc." Scheme/Program that you're exposed to.
Don't do it. You'll soon find that none of the programs you've joined are
getting the
kind of attention it takes to make it successful, because you have too many
irons in
the fire.
Take a day to go through each of the programs you've joined, read them
again,
compare them, one to another, and pick maybe three that really have the
right
components to support your Major Business endeavor. AND TRASH THE REST...
You'll find you have more time to promote the good ones, and build your
success
one day at a time.
Having been where you say you're at, I do know from experience what I'm
talking
about.

Truer words have never been spoken.
6 years ago, when I first started out to build my 'Web Empire' I bought into
every
program that promised wealth that I could find. I was like a "kid with a
dollar in a
penny candy store", I wanted some of everything, and got nothing in return.
I bought
from all of the 'top gurus' all of their (schemes) programs because I
believed they
knew what they were doing.
They did; they got my money to prove it.
Now, being wiser I have given up all my childish toys I bought from them,

Re: “Cesspool of Scams, Crooks and Con Artists”
From: Virginia Bahls
Greetings All,
In Adland Digest #436 the following statement was made:
----------------------------------------------------------------
True, the Internet has degenerated into a Cesspool of Scams, Crooks and Con
Artists
but are we to believe that there are no honest operators left on the
Internet -God
forbid, few though they may be.
----------------------------------------------------------------
This question is ask: "how do you know who to trust?" This is a question we
all have
ask ourselves after reading the glut of «marketing" information on websites.
We
have each (I suppose) been burned at one point or another by believing a
smooth
talking, talented writer. The ability to write well can be used to enhance,
as well as to
twist, the facts. As a result, one can read every word, check all the
resources, check
the names behind the domain name and still not know if the words are
describing a
true opportunity or just another opportunity for someone to fleece yet
another group
of trusting people.
So, because I've been fleeced one too many times, I've reached out in a
different
direction. I now market a company that was established over 135 years ago in
the
real world and has come to the Internet with their marketing experience and
integrity
already established. They offer quality products with a well known name that
I'm
proud to represent. Not only that, a fr*e training site and a fr*e marketing
site is
given to each person on the team I'm associated with. These people are real,
they
offer and actually give support. My sponsor, who I'm proud to say has become
a true
friend, is an honest, real person who has supported my learning as well as
my
marketing efforts. I'm very thankful that I've found a home on the Internet
where I
no longer have to worry about the company folding or the "founders"
disappearing.
To learn more please click here for a fr*e report:
http://www.ginnysdesigns.com/wk.html
God forbid, that we all should degenerate into a "Cesspool of Scams, Crooks
and
Con Artists." Are we not each one responsible to make this world a better
place even
if it is only in our own back yard. Be thankful, be honest and remember that
the
Internet is only a tool -- it is not the be-all, end-all of life.
Thanks for your time and God bless,
Virginia

Re: Let's go surfing!
From: Douglas Sutter
Posted: 02-11-2005 11:16 PM
Hello everyone,
There are a lot of new people on the web who need traffic to their
website. Today I am going to briefly talk about one way to get
traffic.
Manually Surfing the web is an excellent method. But how do you surf
for maximum benefit? By joining several traffic exchanges. Try to
join the most popular ones. It can be time consuming finding out who
those are. I have a list of 40 of the most popular ones and it is
periodically reviewed and updated. This is a very special list and has
it's own special URL. You can join all top 40 exchanges by clicking on
a link to each one from the same page. After you join one, click the
back arrow in your browser and you instantly return to the list. Now
you can join the next one.
After my URL loads in your browser, you will be asked if you want to
become a member. Please do so. You will not only have access to my
special list, but also, by joining you turn my special URL into your own
special URL. This means that you can now offer your special URL to
other people who want to maximize their surfing time. You will want
to do that. First it helps others get traffic to their website and it helps
you to get more traffic too. You see, as people join these popular
top 40 exchanges from your special URL and then start surfing, you
receive a percentage of credits (hits) from the exchanges that they
have joined to your web site! So it is to your maximum benefit to
offer your special URL to lots of people. :o) Can you see where you
once only got 200 hits surfing by your lonesome, that by having just
ten others join from your special URL that you could easily receive
2,000 or more hits a day? That figures to 60,000 hits a month?
Would that help you?
OK you joined and have your own special URL, now what? How do
you let others know about it, so that maybe they will join? Simple,
just surf.
Once you have your own special URL, enter your new special URL and
any other website URL you want by clicking on the link in your member's
area of the traffic exchange which says something like "manage your
web sites". After you enter a URL you must confirm it. After it confirms
you are done with that one. Enter and confirm the next one. When you
are finished entering and confirming, copy the surfing URL of the exchange.
Then enter the surfing URL of the traffic exchange into Crazy Browser,
Avant Browser, or whatever one you are using that allows for multiple
windows to be displayed simultaneously. Create a group and enter your
surfing URL for the exchange in there. Do this for 5 to 10 exchanges. I
recommend ten traffic exchange surfing URLs per group. Label your
groups, Group One, Two, Three and Four. You will have a total of four
groups saved with 10 exchanges per group. If you don't know how to
do this send me an e-mail and I will explain it to you. What happens now
is this. When you open a group, 10 traffic exchanges automatically load
in your browser. You are now ready to surf. With some of them you
will need to log in and click "surf now". Click on the first page, wait for
the count down timer to finish. While you are waiting, check out the
website you are viewing. Many times a website provides information
that you want or need. Simply bookmark the page to view it again later.
If it is of no interest to you, click on the next page in the browser, etc.
etc.
When you get to the end of the 10 pages, return to the first page and
click where you must to go to the next page within the exchange. It's
usually fairly obvious where to click. You may have to click on a number
or a color or a picture or something similar.
By your lonesome, depending on your connection speed, surfing 10
exchanges for just an hour a day can easily get you 300 - 500 hits, to
your websites. Multiply that by others who have joined and continue to
do so from your special URL, and you my friend, are now generating a
ton of hits! 10,000+ a day are not unusual. You have to be consistent
and persistent and then the hits will come.
If you are interested, my special URL and e-mail address are in my
signature.
Happy surfing!
Douglas Sutter

====================GUEST ARTICLE =====================
Find Your Easy-start Niche and Launch Your Professional Practice With a Bang
=========================================================
by Marcia Yudkin
In the last seven years, I’ve helped more than three dozen people become
consultants
or copywriters and launch their practice. After helping so many people figure
out
their easiest, most promising way to start earning money with a new skill and
build a
clientele, I should probably patent the method! Here are the steps, though,
which I
believe will work for just about anyone who’s already had some professional or
personal experience as an adult.
First, ask yourself what groups of people you have contacts with or you have a
special affinity with because of your professional or life experience. One
protégé
had been an executive recruiter two careers previously, and though he didn’t
have
any current contacts in the industry, knew he could come across with uncommon
credibility with recruiters since he had "been there." Another decided to target
gay
and lesbian business owners in her city, since she belonged in that category and
knew several professional groups where she could network and contribute to their
newsletter.
Second, catalogue your preferences. Do you enjoy working with the folks in the
groups that came up in answer to question #1? I strongly believe that if you
don’t
respect and like your clients, it comes across and your business will never
catch fire
and glow healthily. One of my trainees decided not to pursue ad agencies as
clients
because she’d met too many "phonies" at such organizations.
Third, research whether a certain niche is reachable and large enough to sustain
a
practice. A protégé who wanted to do copywriting with software companies in her
geographical area between $10 and $50 million in annual sales was able to
identify
more than a hundred of them within a two-hour drive of her house. That meant a
green light for her launch. If there were only four or five such companies, I’d
have
encouraged her to find a different niche to start with, or to target other
groups at the
same time from the start.
Fourth, do a reality check: Does this group have the money and willingness to
pay
for your services? Some professions and demographic groups are accustomed to
paying for professional services, while others aren’t used to doing so and balk
at
even reasonable fees. For instance, as a former college professor I should have
been
able to rack up tens of thousands of dollars from other professors wanting to be
published. However, in 25 years I’ve encountered very few professors open to the
idea of paying for help on their writing, and I discourage others from choosing
this
as a niche. Likewise, I don’t believe it would be wise to target 20-somethings
as
clients, since their own earnings are low and they’ve probably never hired any
kind
of consultant before.
Fifth, decide on one or more marketing vehicles that you feel comfortable with
and
fashion a pitch for your services using them. One former sales executive
excelled at
calling up strangers and marketing to them by phone, while practically everyone
else
I’ve worked with chose some combination of direct mail, networking and a web
site
to get their business off the ground.
I should add that when launching your professional practice, it’s smart to do a
few
jobs free to collect a portfolio of samples and/or testimonials.
After you milk your chosen niche and have a solid financial foundation, you can
certainly change your target, adding new groups and abandoning populations that
don’t fulfill your expectations. You might end up offering your services to
anyone
and everyone, but that’s not the shrewdest starting point. Even with my
easy-start
formula you’ll need some patience, but it maximizes the odds that business will
start
and continue coming in at a rate that encourages you to stick with it until your
practice is unquestionably off the ground.

================JOKE OF THE DAY==================
It all depends on the way you see things.
------------------------------------------------
One day a wealthy father took his son on a trip to the country with the firm
purpose of showing him how really poor people are. They spent a day and a night
in the farm of a very poor family. When they returned, the father asked his son,
"How did you see the trip?"
"Very good Dad!"
"Did you see how really poor people can be?" the father asked."
"Yeah!"
"And what did you learn?"
The son answered, "I saw that we have a dog at home, and they have four dogs.
We have a pool that reaches to the middle of the garden, they have a creek that
has no end. We have imported lamps in the garden, they have the stars. Our patio
reaches to the front yard, they have a whole horizon."
When the little boy was finished, his father was speechless. His son added,
"Thanks, Dad, for showing me how poor we are."
