I hope all of you who celebrated Easter this weekend had a very Happy Easter! I
hope that you rested, recharged your batteries and are ready for the very important
for online marketing, spring period. I don’t know what your weather is like in your
part of the world, but here in Greece it really felt like spring this weekend, and even I
crawled out of my hole… er… computer room and took in some sun :-)
This Digest is a little “poorer” than the previous ones, but that is to be expected.
Even we, hardworking, dedicated, online business-people need some time off, right?

What would you advise…
===================

O.K., no one had any suggestions regarding what to do if you can’t write…
I wonder… is it because people who had those suggestions don’t feel confident
enough about their writing skills to post about them? Hmmmm…

I’m going to become more practical in this issue, because theory is fine, but practice
brings the $$$ in!! So, without further ado, here is this issue’s food for thought
question:

What is the first thing you would advise your newly recruited people to do?
(It can be more than one, make a list of priorities if you wish).

Hi Kim Snyder

I got the same experiences, but think with the niche sites of MPAM you can reach
what you are looking for. I'm trying now. At least my MPAM site has already a lot
of hits.

Great success with your targeted traffic.

Rudolph, I don't know where you get off posting income claims and projections as
an attempt to get people interested in that opportunity of yours. Apparently you are
looking quite amateurish when you do that. That thing isn't done that way.

And since you are involved in RM anyway. That gives me the impression that you
are extremely foolish or just don't know any better.

Re: When is enough enough?
From: Mike Sullivan

Greetings,

Having been a reader here for several years, I still have to wonder, when is enough
enough? There are some who just cannot seem to understand, this forum does not
allow ads. Let me make it more clear, NO ADS!
Does that compute Rudy?

Not only is the below a poor ad, it is also an illegal ad, so how does this kind of
policy abuse constantly get allowed to be posted here over and over? There is
nothing in this post that other than a blatant advertisement.

The one thing Rudy needs to learn here is that it is illegal in most countries to induce
others via income claims, whether true or not. Certainly Adland knows this, or at
least should, so why do you ignore your own polices and allow these ads to continue
every month?

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Rudy asks, "Need I say more", I would so NO, as in NO ADS RUDY! If it took you
seven years to finally make money on the internet, that says it all, need I say more?

Good luck, Mike

I like the idea of having the same categories set up for each region,
it allows the user to go directly to the area they are looking for
without having to open up various windows on their browser. Precise, tidy,

The listings are not in any order. They should be by location first, then by price. No
one wants to scan whole lists. Pics would be great also as well as a hot button map of

Are Affiliates being short changed?
From: Paul Skinner

Hi All,

Just wondered if any of you have noticed missed commissions or continual drop in
commissions for stuff using cookies to track things since the introduction of new
security like Norton’s firewalls and spyware and toolbar tools which delete cookies
and/or block?

This of course benefits the merchants as you refer clients but not rewarded so they
pocket all the profits.

I think unless webmasters/merchants change way the websites track visitors and
referrals it’s going to end up a problem.

I believe the new web codes allow session-less cookies where all info is stored on
server could be a work around but then the data/cookie is deleted after the browser is
closed, but at least the merchants website could update a local database saying whom
referred and how long it lasts right?

What are you views on this? Should US affiliates or webmaster worry about this??

Also do you think it’s far of companies like Amazon to only track referrals and sales
a short time, say 1 day? After all the person makes an account with them so next
time they login to buy your not rewarded. You’re rewarded only the first time they
join and buy what you referred and you get only 5% commission. A $20 order is $1
to you. The fact is Amazon sells stuff very cheaply and offers reconditioned stuff... I
saw someone link from a product link for printer cartridge the other month, for $80
possible sale, instead they were also offered refurnished cartridges at 1 cent each!..
So they bought the lot (15 of them) for that.. 15cent.. I go zilch commission and they
cost us a sale in a new cartridge. Stupid or what?

I think its a little unfair myself. Its kind of a waste of time promoting for merchants
like that and better to go for 50 to 60% CB merchant commissions for one’s time,
bandwidth and costs (except they are info products only and harder to sell then every
day products)

I’ve also tried out clixgalore and linkshare to see a lot of searches from my pages and
in 2 months only 1 sale on each of them so again I wondering if cookies are deleted
or its really tracking stuff fairly?

I spent a month putting together a mall from all the links offer. A lot of work for
little gain so far. You can check it out here if interested:

Internet Marketing
From: Ken Webb

Hi,

Has Internet Marketing become history? Is it time to move on?
Do you disagree entirely or do you agree?

Please let me have your views or comments on the following points....

1) Safelists are dead; nobody ever sees your ads.
2) Auto Surfers are useful only for increasing your website hits, and some engines
will ban your domain if you use them.
3) Surf 4 Hits have had their day. Nobody clicks anymore and those die-hards that
still do are not interested in your program. So what's the point in risking RSI?
4) Exit Exchanges are useless thanks to Pop Up Blockers. Your credits will be used
up even when your page is blocked from view.
5) Are people being driven away from the internet by the constant flood of scams?
Is enough being done by your government to control scams?

Please let me have your views, I will publish the best replies in the next edition of
my newsletter along with your website link.

Regards,
Ken Webb.

How Big is Your Blog?
From: Rebecca Beasley

Thanks to Todd Canedy I'm starting to go Blog Bananas.

Todd..you've created a MONSTER! HEHE..

I've started several blogs in several different places and they're all pretty "willy nilly"
general marketing stuff, a little bit of story telling, humor, and several different
subjects.

I'm getting a few good comments and I'm enjoying just writing off the top of my
head, and have started promoting from one blog to the other and branching out
gradually. But what I would really like to do is have a different subject for each one
and try to stick to the topic.

I'm thinking of starting one on web design, one on html, one on marketing, one on
stories from my family, etc..

I want to appeal to several groups of people, but I don't know how to get the ones I
already have split up into different categories and have them separated.

Is this a good thing to do or should I just keep them the way they are and hope for
the best?

The Death of Internet Marketing as We Know it?
From: Ken Webb

Hi,

The internet in general is suffering at present, like many other fads before it, and
Internet Marketing in particular appears to be the biggest casualty.
At first everybody wants to get involved then the novelty starts to wear off.
The internet has been lucky so far because it is available to millions but the signs are
appearing that people are tiring of it for a variety of reasons.

I started to see a decline towards the end of last year despite predictions to the
contrary that things would improve around February.

More and more of my affiliates, sub affiliates, contacts and subscribers are giving up
the internet and/or Internet Marketing for good after being plagued by Spyware,
Virus attacks, Spam and Scams. Many do not have a clue how to protect themselves
despite all the information available. So they are now simply giving up.

Then you have the other extreme where a person has every known protection
including Spam Filters so it is impossible to reach them. Spam Filters have
practically killed off any chance of marketing via email. Even genuine emails are
being deleted by many Spam Filters because they contain a particular term or phrase.
This is largely due to the fact that many do not know how to set them up correctly or
simply cannot be bothered.

I received a message recently from one of my newsletter subscribers asking why he
no longer received my newsletter, which he enjoys reading. I told him to check his
spam box and there it was. It was filtered because it contained the word "Hello"
which, according to his particular Spam Filter, was a term used by spammers.
I guess "Goodbye" is also considered Spam? This guy probably doesn't even receive
email from his mother!

Have you noticed that more and more of the so called "Gurus" are apparently giving
stuff away? My guess is that they are desperate to grab new "live" emails because
nobody sees their ads anymore thanks to Spam Filters.

Safelists are dead, they either disappear suddenly without warning or are being
offered for sale at a give-away price. I sent a test email to a selection of popular
safelists recently and the response was ZERO!

The traffic exchanges no longer produce results, they too are beginning to vanish
without warning or are practically being given away. Exit Exchanges have been
killed off by Pop Up Stoppers. Surf4Hits have been rendered virtually useless by
Automation Software and Multiple Browsers. Auto Surfers were never any good
other than to increase your website hits.

A few of my subscribers have ditched Internet Marketing and MLM etc in favour of
HYIP or something similar. Anything where you can still make money without
eferrals.

Although laziness is part of the problem it is also a simple fact that many budding
entrepreneurs will never be able to build a downline. Many of them still copy and
paste pre-written ads which they then post to safelists, as this is what they are being
told to do by the program owners. Then they wonder why they don't get results.

Many program owners don't seem to care as long as they get their monthly
membership fees, although they are probably shooting themselves in the foot in the
long term. Success breeds success.

Very few of the hundreds of marketing and traffic building programs I am subscribed
to are producing either traffic or commissions anymore. My downlines continue to
grow, in some cases this is in the thousands, and with some programs I am lucky
enough to be provided with a contact email address of the new member. But in many
cases that's the only real benefit these days and it's not enough to encourage me to
continue.
I have done very well from Affiliate Programs in the past but the writing is now
definitely "On the Wall".

I am gradually moving away from Internet Marketing as we have come to know it.
I will be concentrating instead on Niche Products, which are proving to be profitable,
and the handful of affiliate programs that are still producing results. The rest will be
ditched in a few weeks as I revamp my website.

I know of three colleagues who have invested a lot of money and work into their
programs which are now dead in the water. This is despite the fact that they have
thousands of members and these guys were very successful with previous projects.
There are probably hundreds of others.

We have all come to the same conclusion; it’s time to move on.

Regards,
Ken.

Tell Me The Reasons Why I Should Believe You? by: Nick James
================================================

Have you ever heard the phrase, 'PREPONDERANCE OF PROOF'?

I recently heard it to describe a situation where a person was backed up against a
wall (legally speaking) and needed a way out of the mess.

The legal guy came in and said, 'I feel we may win this case'. The defendant was
furious with his lawyers. I want you to have an abundance, a 'preponderance of
proof' so that we bury them in evidence. I want them to 'surrender' because of the
unending proof we can give them!

That real life example helps to reinforce the fact that generally we're a nation of
skeptics.

But, if someone was able to win us over, with just amazing proof, reasons and
credibility to back up what they say, we'd be pretty much sold on whatever they were
trying to persuade us with.

To illustrate things, let's say were planning on selling our car and we want to give the
prospective buyer enough evidence to buy from us.

The question is "what can we include in our written communication that'll help
cement a sale?"

How about we start with...

Photocopies of the logbook that details the full service history.

Then, we could send ...

A copy of a Tax disc that has been fully paid up for a year.

And, what about...

Photographs of where you've been on holiday with your car, so putting a picture in
the mind of the prospect that 'leisure' can be made more enjoyable.

And, to prove our reason for the sale, we could include a copy of...

A flight ticket that shows you have to go out of town in the next 30 days, hence the
spectacular offer you're making to sell the car.

To add a little status and glamour to the car, we could show...

Pictures of celebrities, local or national, who also have a similar car, so bringing in
the principle of 'association and esteem' in having the same as 'prominent others'.

To prove the market value of the car, we can show...

A copy of the dealer price for the car, and the market place average, and how you're
able to undercut the price, and the reasons why you're able to do it.

A letter from your loan company showing the amount outstanding on the vehicle to
date, and, a copy of a report that shows why the car you're selling has tremendous
resell value.

... I think you get the idea here.

Whatever it is you want to sell, giving people irresistible reasons, backed up with a
caseload of proof, is the surest and quickest way to a sale.

What proof elements can you add to your products and services?

================JOKE OF THE DAY==================

Final Exam
=========

This past fall semester, at Duke University, there were two sophomores who were
taking Organic Chemistry and who did pretty well on all of the quizzes, midterms,
labs, etc. Going into the final exam, they had solid "A's."
These two friends were so confident going into the final that the weekend before
finals week (even though the Chem. final was on Monday), they decided to go up to
University of Virginia to a party with some friends.
So they did this and had a great time. However, they ended up staying longer than
they planned, and they didn't make it back to Duke until early Monday morning.
Rather than taking the final then, they found Professor Aldric after the final and
explained to him why they missed it. They told him that they went up to Virginia for
the weekend, and had planned to come back in time to study, but that they had a flat
tire on the way back and didn't have a spare and couldn't get help for a long time. So
they were late getting back to campus.
Aldric thought this over and agreed that they could make up the final on the
following day. The two guys were elated and relieved. So, they studied that night and
went in the next day at the time that Aldric had told them.
He placed them in separate rooms, handed each of them a test booklet and told them
to begin. They looked at the first problem, which was something simple about free
radical formation and was worth 5 points. "Cool" they thought, "this is going to be
easy." They did that problem and then turned the page.
They were unprepared, however, for what they saw on the next page.
It said: (95 points) "Which tire?"
