Wow! It’s June already – summer is already here, and quite frankly, I have no idea
where the time went!
I guess it’s one of the hazards of working from the comfort of your own home that
you can become just a bit TOO comfortable and “superficial” things such as time
passing has no true meaning. Maybe it’s just me… after recently celebrating my 49th
birthday I have started seriously wondering where the last 20 years went!
Am I the only one with these existential thoughts or is any one else out there
thinking that time is somehow speeding up?

What is your biggest obstacle?

Some people would have you believe that working online is easy. Today, I’m going
to play “devil’s advocate” and put it to you that working online is actually tough and
demanding work. There seem to be a zillion things you must learn – technical things,
complex procedures, new computer languages. Then, of course, you need to learn
how to sell, because let’s face it, all business is a form of selling. You need to learn
to teach others to become as good as or even better than you. And somewhere in-
between all this learning you need to make money too!

Sound too tough? Well… it might be. Perhaps it is the true reason that 95% of all
people trying to make a living online fail. Who needs to go through all this hassle
when you have already probably spent years and years learning a trade that used to
put bread on the table?

Ah… but times are changing… what worked 50, 20 or even 10 years ago is no
longer valid. A good percentage of families even in the so-called developed world
need 2 or 3 incomes to make ends meet. Pensions just about everywhere are from
miniscule to non-existent. Unless you were lucky enough to be born into money or
struck it rich somewhere along the way, chances are that any type of extra income
would be welcome to your family… So… you are still trying to make an income
online.

Thankfully, there are small havens, like AdlandPro and this Digest that can help you

My site is #1 on Google for keyword "affiliate review" because I spent an
hour each day at the forum. My most favorite forum is
howtocorp.com/forum.

When you submit your URL via submission page from Google, it is no longer
guaranteed your site will get indexed. Even if it does, it'll take from
4-6 weeks.

However, if you spend time at the forum there are distinct advantages:

1- Make yourself known - to get help and to be helped.
2- Let Google finds you .. It's the best way to get indexed.
3- Pay to be listed on someone site that has Google index his or her site
often. I charge $20.00 a month to list a URL on my site. You will get
indexed in 1 week.

However due to Google recent Dance, the result may change by the time you
read this email. The dance this time is very deep and I am not sure why
some sites got yanked off the listing.

As far as I can see the only way to get traffic is to get your
web-site listed in the search engines. Especially a web-site just starting
out. If no one can find you, you will not get any hits. This is a long and
tedious task. You need to have your site listed among the group on the
first 3 pages of the listing of what-ever you use as your key search
words. I concentrated on one set of key words and it really took about 2
years to start getting enough hits to not be able to count them on one
hand per day.
You need to use the key words in your kind of like I did.
META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="lawn mower,lawn mowers,lawn mower
repair and so on.
I concentrated on lawn mower repair as the key words I type in the search
engine as that is what the site is about. You will need to figure out what
your site is about and concentrate on these 3 or 4 words.

Search Engine is always the best of all but the toughest of all. Why? Because it's the
place where people find you whereas other adverts are places where we chase people
hoping they will like us. It's less targeted compared to SE and as such SE is the best.

Several months ago I noticed that a member of one of my downlines had gone from a
personal group volume of $19.97 in January to a PGV of $407.84 in February.
What really intrigued me was that $372.84 of her February sales were online sales.

Curious to find out what she was doing differently, I called to ask her what had
changed.

She told me that she had started a blog (weblog) that has a link on it to her main
business website. On her blog she has posted tips and descriptions of her products.

I'll not pretend to be an expert on search engines, but I do know that the more content
you have on your website the more likely a search engine will pick up your pages
and list them in search results.

The SE's love blogs because of the keyword rich content and because they are more
likely to be updated on a regular basis.

Many people, myself included, now use blogs as a marketing tool.

The May 2, 2005 cover story of Businessweek magazine stated that, "Given the
changes barrelling down upon us, blogs are not a business elective. They're a
prerequisite."

I'm curious to learn how many other Adlanders use blogs in their marketing efforts
and what kind of success you are having with them.
