How to Quickly Gain Traffic to Your New Web Site, by Herman Drost
Joke of the Day
==============
Word from Moderator
------------------------------
I don’t know about your part of the world, but boy, summer is really here for
me!
Monday, June 19 is a holiday for us, the Day of the Holy Spirit, and it marks
the
official beginning of summer activities in Greece. Now, I have lived in other
parts of
the world where summer was just another season. Not so in Greece! Here, we take
summer very seriously, The population doubles every summer and the tourist
business and all related businesses boom. Half the people are on vacation and
the
other half are working harder than ever.
What does this have to do with online business? Well… I have seen people slow
down in their efforts in the summer, and consider it “a dead season”. They
couldn’t
be more wrong! We tend to forget that online business is global, and while it
may be
summer in the northern hemisphere, it’s the middle of winter in the southern.
Furthermore, even when people are on vacation, they have more leisure time, and
are
therefore more likely to spend some of that time surfing on the net. From
personal
experience, holidays and the summertime have been some of the more profitable
times for me, and the best times to advertise.
This is the reason that in consultation with Bogdan, I have decided to offer a
free
bonus to whoever buys a “Power Tip” top ad in the Digest during the summer
months. I am donating 5,000 guaranteed visitors to the advertised website,
provided
it doesn’t have any popups or popunders. Simply claim your visitors when you
purchase your ad by telling Bogdan “I want my 5,000 visitors Bonus” and he will
notify me.

Do you have clear goals?
=================
We all want to make money – that’s why we are in business, right?
I was involved in a discussion about this recently, and someone whose experience
and knowledge I respect highly told me: “Hey, if making money is your only goal
you will fail!” So, I dug down a little deeper and realized that making money
was not
my only goal – it was not even my primary goal. This led me to an exercise where
I
listed all the goals that are important to me in a clear and concise manner.
I won’t bore you with my list of goals. But since I went through the exercise
and
came out a much more enlightened person, I thought I would pass it on to you.
So, tell me… have you ever sat down and actually made a list of your goals and
desires in life? Do you actually know what exactly you want the universe to
deliver
to you and how necessary do you believe it is to be specific?

Re: Food for Thought--Money
From: Kindra Martinenko
"HOW MUCH do you believe is a fair amount to invest per month to get your online
business off the ground? $2000? $500? $50? Give me a number and a reason
please."
I think for everyone it’s different. For me it was all of my tax return money,
which
was about $700. The truth is that "to get your business off the ground" can mean
a
myriad of different things to different people. If I would have known it would
have
taken me almost a year to start turning a profit from my current business, I
probably
would have said "no thank you". But I stuck it out and that investment has been
worth it. If you spend $2000 to get your business started, and all you have to
show
for it after 6 months is a bunch of debt, bankruptcy, and an angry spouse, I
don't
think that is fair or reasonable.
No matter what you invest in your business, you are taking a calculated risk.
You
don't know if it will end up returning a profit. You may strike it big. You may
lose
it all. It’s a gamble. The question is, are you able to afford gambling that
$2000 (or
whatever) on the POTENTIAL for a lifetime of financial freedom? If you can
answer "yes", then I would say that any amount is worth that investment (if you
can
afford it to begin with). If the answer is "no", continue working for somebody
else
and be happy with retiring when you are 68.

RE: How much?
From: Pawan Varma
As a business consultant with years of experience working major (multi-billion
dollar) corporations and individuals, I have had to deal with this issue fairly
frequently: "How much money do we need to invest?"
Corporations always get it right. They ask how much money they can expect to
make in a reasonably short time. The answer to "How much?" depends on my
answer to their question.
If I tell them they can make $100, then they say they can spend $99 or less.
Bottom
line? Whenever you invest money, you need to make sure you profit. And if you
profit on every investment, you can keep investing indefinitely.
Hope this helps.

From: Dr Bob Siegman
You ask, "HOW MUCH do you believe is a fair amount to invest per month to get
your online business off the ground? $2000? $500? $50?" Give me a number and a
reason please. ----
Heck, I might as well just throw any number out there as to accurately answer
this
question, more information is needed, such as what kind of business, how much
work is involved, what are the projected expenses, what is the projected time
table
on profit return, what is the target arena, is the business general or niche
specific, etc.
Also most business usually require a larger investment at the very beginning,
then
after several months. I have even tried to turn the question a little as to ask
myself
what would you like to pay? Heck, I am human, so the answer is typical,,, As
little as
possible! You say what is "fair amount" Let me ask you this, "What would be a
fair
amount of services, product, training and support for my investment?" Would a
business where you can get a New Home that's soundproof, fireproof,
bullet-proof,
and is saving the earth's resources along with the training and support plus the
tools
you need to earn a 7 figure income be worth the same cost as a home you would
build from traditional materials?

Re: How Is It For You To Think & Act Positively
From: Joe Stewart
Bravo Judith,
There are a few individuals that I'd like to read your post, but I'm not
certain that it
would do any good.
I was just sitting here "brooding" about one of my suppliers raising their
prices
(without notice) on me and I happened to look up at a note that I'd posted
for myself
awhile back that says "Don't think about the things you can't do, Think
about the
things you CAN do".
In other words, get off the pity pot and start looking at all of the good
things that I
still CAN offer at reasonable prices. I have access to thousands of items
for my
business, but I was allowing the price increase of TWO to get me down.
It was right after looking at my note that I checked my email and found your
message reinforcing my belief.
Life is EXACTLY what you make of it.
If you're putting out negative vibes then that's exactly what you'll receive
in return.
On the other hand, if you're smiling and pushing forward, irregardless of
life’s little
challenges (we all have them) you will always find a way to overcome
setbacks and
you can't help but draw other positive people toward you.
As we use to say in the army "Thank you for correcting my mind drill sgt!)
Thank you, god bless & a wonderful day to all!

Blogs are the most effective way of advertising or marketing your products

Since contents are always updated and SE's love contents, a blog site gets a

Re: Exploding you ezines subscriptions
From: Dr Bob Siegman
In comment to the great article by Tracey (tracey@quickandeasyaudio.com)
entitled;
Number 1 tried and tested method for exploding your ezine subscriptions.
While the advice of Tracey's will increase your subscription rate, I feel it
is more
important to point that a great subscriber rate is only half the battle. The
biggest key
is the quality of your newsletter. Example; I know a gent who can get
hundreds of
sign-ups, being his newsletter, programs or just about whatever, but his
biggest
complaint is all of them are totally unresponsive. His problem, all his
mailing are
90% advertising ("give me your money") and very little helpful content ("Let
me
show you how this can help you or aid you"). If you have a newsletter or are
putting
it together, Please keep this in mind, Ask yourself, Is this the kind of
newsletter/email/etc that "I" would like to receive in "My Inbox."? If it
is, then trust
me, there are others to. Don't be afraid to ask your current subscribers to
recommend
you to their friends. If you are satisfying them they will want to share it
with others.
You might even try giving rewards for those who do recommend you. There is
free
software that can be set up as a gateways to downloads that require you to
list x
amount names and emails in a refer-a-friend type email system before you are
allowed access to the download. You can even make your download a free audio
file,
such as tutorial on How to help your subscriber accomplish something or
another.
Just remember a book might get a couple of sales by its cover but it is its
content that
will determine whether it will be a Best Seller!
I hope this has been of aid to you

Re: Martha's Sinking Gourds
From: Mike Sullivan
Greetings,
I know of your frustrations as it is happening to everyone on the internet
search
engines. I am most ticked off with Google as they keep making changes, which
is a
constant battle to learn and understand.
Search engines are a moving target, and to maintain your position in these
search
engines is a full time job. There is no way you can sit back and expect to
stay in the
top ten of search engines, so you are not alone.
All I can offer is this, stay current on your knowledge of what search
engines are
looking for. This is not easy, so I would recommend using one of the search
engine
services out there who do keep up with all these changes. There are several
I
registered for and they are invaluable for keeping current.
I looked at your site, and no doubt, you need a tune up. If your old site
was higher
ranked, you should not have changed the opening page, as rule number one in
this
arena is don't mess with success. If I was ranked high, leave your opening
page
alone, and change only your index pages.
Maybe if you expand on your sites specifics, as to where you were placed
before
change, vs. now, it would help, as well as knowing what your old page was,
if saved.
Change is good, but there are so many changes in web site marketing that it
is easy
to make a mistake and lose all that you gained over the years.
Another reason for dropping off the radar is the volume of sites within your
industry.
I would have never guessed there would be as many gourd sites as there were,
so you
may be suffering from simply more competition within your industry.
Good luck, Mike

Re: Site Review: Natural Remedies
From: Kindra Martinenko
Hi Andy,
I meant to comment on your site the first go-around but never got to it. I
just visited
it again and I see you spruced it up a bit! Remarkably, you addressed most
of what I
was going to recommend as an improvement. The red contrasts nicely compared
to
the yellow you were using in the original version. Here are some pointers
that should
help you turn your website into well-oiled machine:
1. Limit your navigation links. If you continue to use the same font and
font size, I
think that ten links is the most you should have. This should eliminate your
need for
saying "See my index to the left...". Most people want information fast.
They don't
want constant reminders of where to look. Don't cause them to think about
where
they could find something. For more advice on navigation, I highly recommend
a
book called "Don't Make Me Think" by Steve Krug.
2. Categorize your links. For example, put anything that has to do with
Natural
Healing on a separate page dedicated to natural healing books, products, and
services. You could put your links to herbal medicines, healing oils,
natural weight
loss, etc. into this page. Focus your visitor's attention on the topic they
are most
interested in, and they will stay longer. Essentially, make mini-sites
within your
larger site. I find that search engines will rank pages higher the more
content-
specific you are. If you have a hodge-podge of different content floating
around,
your site won't fare as well as one that is focused. Additionally, the more
links you
have on a page, the more it looks to the search engine spiders that you are
spamming
and will therefore rank your sites lower in search results.
3. I found something strange on your home page in the paragraph that starts
with
“Instead of knocking yourself out trying to come up with the right natural
remedies...". It looks like there was a graphic or something right before
the word
Prescription. You may want to check that out on your end to see why it’s not
appearing.
4. Your main page needs a little help. The most crucial thing is to keep the
font size
and style the same throughout. It’s okay to emphasize your points with
color, or
better yet, emphasize each point by centering your attention-getting phrase.
For
example, before the paragraph where you ask "Do you want to save money and
control medical costs?", write the header in big bold lettering: "Save Money
on
Medical Costs!" Then start your paragraph below. If I were just scanning
your page
looking for something worth my while, my eyes would lock on to this header
and I
would read what you had to say. Since your main page is also your sales
page, this
is very important. You want people to be interested!
5. You can move your privacy and disclaimer links down to the bottom of the
page.
Put your Contact Us link in the navigation structure or at the bottom of the
page.
6. Get rid of your banner ads on the main page and put them on pages
relevant to the
products you are promoting, or place one at the bottom of each page. Sadly,
most
people have become immune to banner ads. If you have a high traffic website
(such
as Yahoo), then banner ads serve as a way of long-term presence like a
billboard ad.
Keep them limited and visible at all times and you may get people to click
on them.
However, the best way to get clicks is to simply mention a product in a
review and
include a link.
Okay Andy, that's all I will give you for now. Overall, a job well done.
Websites
are always a work in progress, so don't feel overwhelmed. Take it one item
at a time.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly at any
time.
Best wishes,
