Over 40 degrees Celsius in Athens and the neighboring areas in the last few
days…
that’s a severe fever for those who are trying to figure out what that is in
Fahrenheit.
Like the silly goose I sometimes am, I went out in the heat yesterday and
suffered a
mild heat stroke that put me out of commission for the rest of the day. Tons of
water,
low air-conditioner temperatures and a lot of sleep finally brought me back to
the
land of the semi-healthy, but I learned my lesson! Don’t play with the heat!!

Do you ask for help?
===============
We weren’t born all-knowing. We had to learn to walk, to talk, to go potty. We
had
to learn how to read, to do math, to find our location on a map. We always had
people who taught us and helped us along – our parents, relatives and teachers.
Then we grew up and had to pass on the knowledge we had so painstakingly
gathered to our children. Does that mean that we are now through learning? Are
we
self-sufficient and don’t need help any more? And what happens when you, a proud
and knowledgeable grown-up comes across something new and unknown or only
half-known… Do you “fake it” or do you ask for help?

Re: To M'L'M or not to M'L'M?
From: Lynn Harris
To M'L'M or not to M'L'M?
That is a very good question with a lot of opinions from many sides.....
Here is mine.
Yes there are many M^L^M companies that pushed big dreams and fell by the
wayside leaving a bad taste in some peoples mouths. Where massive amounts were
made by company and upline on the sales of..... not products, but MARKETING
MATERIALS!
But can that not be said of other pay structures as well?
And many people put their hopes and dreams into a M^L^M company, only to see
them squashed.
But can that not be said of other pay structures as well?
And, true, there is attrition in the lower ranks of M^L^M structured companies.
Does this make M^L^M a bad marketing concept?
I must say very strongly NO!
If you look at any online program you will find a high attrition rate. Why?
Sadly, probably about 90% of online marketers will "try" a program for a couple
or
few weeks, if they are not seeing big rewards, they move on to the next "hot
program". So just by default you are going to have attrition. M^L^Mers shouldn't
let
that discourage them, but it does. Many good marketers give up because so many
of
their downline drop out, leaving them feeling as though their hard work is for
nothing. But it IS to be expected with any type of marketing system.
Is that a negative on M^L^M? Or is that just a reflection to how life really is?
One of the natural laws of online marketing that you will encounter, and should
expect, IF you actually market anything....
One thing a good M'L'M does do, IF you want to become successful, is promote
TEAMWORK. Which teamwork is a good concept even if you aren't doing M'L'M.
Many affiliate programs are "multi-tiered" systems. Never have figured out the
true
difference between multi-tiered and M'L'M..... But any one that is in your
downline
that you earn a commission on deserves your help and support! After all, the
more
successful THEY are the more successful YOU will be. A good M'L'M is structured
to encourage this team building knowing that the company will benefit with a
marketing force of strong teams supporting it.
A good marketer will be willing to help, even if the person they offer help to
isn't
in their downline, even if that person isn't in the company they are promoting!
In my opinion M^L^M is the best marketing system when it is coupled with a
solid product or service, a good pay structure, and is backed by an honest and
straightforward company. And though a "newbie" may not be as successful as
someone with years of experience, if they are in an organization that "shares",
they will get their training and will grow in knowledge as well as growing their
business.
As with any business online or off, to become successful in M^L^M marketing
will require dedication, work, perseverance, and being approachable and helpful.
You will have up days and down days, as in any business. But in a good M^L^M
structured team you should also have a team full of support above and below you
to celebrate the good with and get support through the bad. It is a people
business!

Re: M'L'M
From: Alan D Munro
I have just one question to place on this topic and with reference to:
"You might prefer a straight-affiliate payment scheme. That will work too - for
a
time. Until you can no longer work or you are no longer willing to sell
yourself."
Please tell me then why has Bill Gates no taken up the M'L'M way of sell and
only
sells direct or as indicated "straight-affiliate payment scheme" and now is one
of the
world very BIG BOYS?????????????
Thanks

MODERATOR: Alan, Bill Gates made a lot of money, however, he was not selling
other people’s products. He was developing and selling his own. I wonder how
many
of Bill Gates’ employees and/or salesmen became multimillionaires?

Re: Overwhelmed by email?
From: John Miller
YES!
As an email user...
• why do so many people think that I need Viagra?
• why do so many people want to con me out of my personal information
(identity theft)?
• why do so many people want to kill or severely injure my computer
with viruses and spyware?
• why do so many people refuse to honor my unsubscribe requests?
I have found a great alternative - RSS.
RSS stands for Real Simple Syndication and it is the no-email and no-spam way to
receive information over the Internet. Less than 20% of current Internet users
even
know what it is, but its advantages will enable it to quickly overtake email as
the
preferred way to communicate online.
Now, I will admit, I heard a little bit about RSS over the last year but didn't
pay
much attention because I felt that I was too busy to learn about it. Well, I
think that
almost everyone would admit that email is out of control.
You can read more about it at

Re: Explain "pinging a blog'
From: Russ Wilson/Webintel
As a new blog author:
http://towncriers-news.blogspot.com/2005/07/towncriers-news.html
I do not understand the following terminology; (in quotes), and would be
most
interested in what it means, and how it is done.
5. Add a blog to your site and "Ping" weblogs.com and other search engines.
"Pinging" your blogs to the search engines is the fastest way to get the
search engine
robots to visit your blog and attract new visitors to your web site.
Thank you for your response.

Re: Explain "pinging a blog'
From: Amalia Sotiriadou
Russ, “to ping” is technical jargon for “communicate electronically”, thus
when you
“ping your blogs” to the search engines, you are in effect nudging the
search engines
and telling them – “I’m here!” It’s important not to do it too often,
otherwise you
may be accused of “spamming” the search engines, but DO do it whenever your
content changes.
As to “how” pinging is done, I can’t help you with the technical details, I
assume it
consists of some sort of software that can do it automatically. Perhaps one
of our
knowledgeable members can help you further.

=================== Training Article ========================
Getting started with RSS, by Jorge Gonzalez
================================
RSS is probably the biggest and latest buzzword among the techies, just
after blogs.
But what is RSS anyway and how can you start taking advantage of it?
RSS is a format to provide headlines and summaries of information in a
simple and
standardized way. Think of it as a distributable "What's New" for websites.
RSS is great for users because it saves users from having to repeatedly
visit favorite
websites to check for new content or be notified of updates via email.
It can give a glimpse of a site's latest concrete contents (no design) in a
second.
RSS is also great for site owners because:
• The summaries of their content can be republished all over the web, which
gets new links and visits to the site.
• They get more returning visitors, since users can suscribe to the feed to
keep up with the site's updates.
• More profits: RSS feeds can contain ads, such as Google Adsense.
RSS feeds can be used for:
• Blogs entries
• Forum entries
• Articles
• News
• Events
• Latest products / discounts / specials
• Music (podcasting)
An "RSS feed" it's the actual RSS file with headlines. To have a glimpse of
how it
looks like and what it can contain, we'll examine the feed from
SelfHelpCommunity.com step by step:

Self-Help Community

Want to learn how being engaged in the moment can enhance your
life
experience as well as your business? Here, Adam Eason shows how anybody can
learn how to engage in the present more to enrich your life more and more
wonderfully.

(... more <items> here, up to 15 ... )

First we declare it as an XML file (RSS is an XML standard), then the RSS
tag and
version (at this time, 2.0 is the latest).
Then we start with the channel which contains some general description of
the feed
and provider like title, link, description, and finally the actual items.
Each item contains a title, a brief description, a publication date and a
link to the rest
of the item. To see all the information you can display, check out the
official RSS 2.0
specification.
There are several ways to read an RSS feed:
• Using your browser or even notepad --since it's just an XML file
(formatted
flat text).
• Using a standalone desktop aggregator --such as FeedDemon, SharpReader,
RssReader, and others.
• Using your e-mail client --NewsGator Email Edition plugs into Outlook
Express, Eudora, Entourage, Apple Mail, or other POP3 e-mail clients and
lets
you receive RSS feeds right in your e-mail window. The same company's
Outlook Edition integrates RSS with Microsoft Outlook. And Mozilla's
Thunderbird e-mail client comes with RSS-reading capabilities built in.
• Using your mobile device --using a service such as FeedBeep, NewsGator
Mobile Edition, Yahoo Mobile, or Elfinland.
To create an RSS for your own site, there is the option to create it by
hand, or using a
software like FeedForAll, or an online service like RSS creator.
Finally, to search for established RSS feeds you can use our very own RSS
search
engine, and to quickly submit your RSS feed to several directories, you can
use our
RSS submit tool.
