It’s time for some changes in the Digest!
As of this issue, you will no longer be receiving the AdlandPro Digest
in your email box. I know that many of you will be unhappy to hear
that, the Digest has been our trusty e-zine, coming to our mailbox every
week for years. However, times are changing and we must adapt.
NO, the Digest is not being discontinued! It’s going BLOG!!
That’s right, from today on, you will only receive a notice that the
Digest has been published. As soon as you receive the notice, you will
be able to go and read it here:
http://www.adlandpro.com/adlanddigest.asp
Please continue to send your posts to the special posting link we
include in every section. If you MUST post a response in the blog area,
keep it general and pertaining to AdlandPro or to the Digest as a whole,
not as a response to a specific posting. Responses to specific postings
will be included INSIDE the Digest only!
Absolutely no ads will be allowed, except for the usual 4 line signature
where you may place your links as usual.
This is an experimental format. We will test it for a while and see how
it works out. It’s a great opportunity for our active members, since all
blogs will be picked up by the search engines. Our contributors will
become known very quickly!
Bogdan and I sincerely hope that you will like the new way of
distributing the Digest and that everyone will contribute to make it one
of the best publications on the net!

Are you preparing your children for success?
=================================
Now you might wonder… what does this subject have to do with online business?
Well, quite a bit actually! More and more people are coming online to find the
opportunities they can no longer find in the brick and mortar world and as time
goes by, this number will only grow. I can imagine the next generation doing
most of their business and/or work online. It’s our responsibility to teach them
how they will succeed in an electronic world, as well as in the “real” world.
So, my question of the day is: What are you doing to prepare your children to
succeed in a world where the only “job” worth having may be to have their own
Internet business?

Pharming - Another New Scam
From: Gary Gresham
Pharming is one of the latest online scams and rapidly growing threat that
has been showing up on the Internet. It's a new way for criminals to try to
get into your computer so they can steal your personal data.
Phishing and pharming are related online scams but pharming has evolved into
a much more sophisticated trick. Phishing scams involve sending you bogus
e-mails that look like they are from a bank or another online business.
The ideal thing the criminal wants you to do is click on an e-mail link that
takes you to a web site that looks authentic. Then, the instructions ask you
to enter your password and account number. Once you do they get your
sensitive personal data and they help themselves to your money.
The new pharming scam is similar to phishing scams but with a bit of a new
twist. The pharming scam works by actually redirecting your Internet
browser. That just means when you type a legitimate website address into a
web address bar you are redirected without your knowledge to a bogus site
that looks identical to the genuine site.
Once you log in with your login name and password, the information is
immediately captured by the thief. The real danger of the new pharming scam
is that you no longer have to click an email link for your personal
information to be stolen.
You can obviously see how serious this scam could be. So to avoid becoming a
new victim of the pharming scam here is a list of recommendations that may
help you.
• Always use a secure website when you submit credit card or other sensitive
information via your Web browser. The beginning of the Web address in your
browsers address bar should be "https://" rather than just "http://"
• Log into your online accounts on a regular basis. Check your bank, credit
and debit card statements to ensure that all transactions are legitimate. If
anything looks suspicious, contact your bank and all card issuers
immediately.
• Regularly check that your browser is up to date and new security patches
are applied. Go to the Microsoft Security home page at
http://www.microsoft.com/security/default.mspx The easiest way to stay
updated is click on the "Get updates for Windows automatically" link.
• Always report an entire original phishing email with its original header
information intact to the Federal Trade Commission at
spam@uce.gov. Then, notify the Internet
Fraud Complaint Center of the FBI by filing a complaint at
https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01.
New security measures must continually be added to the Internet because
criminals probe for any weakness they can find. Be aware of the latest
online pharming scam so you won't becoming a victim of this new threat.

===========Response (1.1)===================
RE: Still No Sales! (Devasish Gupta)
From: Kindra Martinenko
Hi Devasish,
I also clicked on the link to your blog, since it was the only link you
provided. I get the purpose of your website (affiliate marketing
material from Derek Gehl at the Internet Marketing Center...Cory Rudl's
right-hand man and now the big guy in charge)...
Since you are focusing primarily on resources for affiliate marketers,
I would start writing some articles on your experience with internet
marketing and incorporating them in with reviews of the products. This is
how I acquire sales with products targeted toward internet marketers. It
really helps to buy the products and do a review, so you are not just using
the marketing materials emailed by Derek...a personal account yields a
better response.
Hang in there. Affiliate product marketing is very saturated. This
does not mean you cannot find your niche, but it does mean you need to
find a niche, and you need to find targeted audiences. Just plain
traffic won't be helpful.
It is also beneficial to build a positive and reliable reputation.
Start going to forums and offering your advice to people and start
building trust. Make yourself known as a authority in your field. This opens
the door for you to effectively use your blog. Help first, promote
second---this is my personal motto.
Good luck!

Re: MODERATOR RESPONSE: Still no Sales!
From: Devasish Gupta
Hi Amalia,
I meant in general what should one do faced with the situation of no
sales even when everything is going right?
Yours,
Devasish

MODERATOR RESPONSE: Devasish, how could “everything” be going “all right”
when the primary purpose of the website – sales – is not accomplished? Such
a website needs to be put on the table and DISSECTED! If the visitors come
you should find a way to figure out WHY they are coming. Is there something
interesting in the website that draws them or are they “forced” to come by
various tricks? If they are drawn by the products but are leaving again
without buying, then you should examine the products, the prices and the
ordering procedure. Does the website have a lead capture section where the
visitor can leave their name and address for the businessperson to follow up
with later? Does the website offer enough variety of their products to
satisfy differing tastes? There is more to building a business than putting
up a website with a couple of products and bringing in visitors by force.

Website Traffic Benefits by Oland Whitecotton
-------------------------------------------------------------
Purchased traffic consists of REAL visitors who will see your website in
either a full page pop-up, domain redirect or other means that will show
your whole website to the visitor. The low costs of traffic allow you to
purchase more traffic, increasing your chances of getting sales repeat
customers. Some of these customers may write about your website on their
site, increasing your Google PageRank! Traffic also increases your Alexa
ranking. There are hundreds of benefits of having website traffic, but there
are no benefits for not having a steady stream of visitors going to your
website.
Google PageRank
Google’s PageRank was invented by one of the founders of Googe, Page. Your
PageRank is better as it increases, and can vary from 0 to 10 (10 being the
highest and best). The higher your PR is, the higher your ranking in Google
search results. So the more visitors, or traffic, you have going to your
website, the higher possibility people will link to your website, increasing
your Google PR, in turn increasing your website search results placement and
getting you highly targeted traffic!
Alexa Ranking
Owned and operated by amazon.com, Alexa has their own ranking system for
every page on the internet. Some pages don’t make it into their ranking
system for one reason or another, however if your website is generating lots
of traffic your site should be listed in it in no time. Contrary to Google’s
PR, Alexa’s Ranking system says lower is better. If your website has an
Alexa ranking of 50,000 - you’re getting more traffic than someone who has a
ranking of 75,000. Some major search engines factor in your website's Alexa
Ranking… there is some speculation that Google does.
