============ Word from Publisher =============

Uhhh.
This was an intesting start in 1999.
I received  84 messages in last 24 hours regarding  spamming
through mailing of  digest #60. All of this messages were in response to
my emergency mailing  that Adland Digest was used to spam.
I don't know how to thank  all who responded to me, showing
support and calming me down by  explanations and  providing
their own experiences in this area. I know that I shouldn't ask you
for sending this mail to that person,  but I was so upset that  I couldn't
help it. Even greater thanks to all of you who've sent email supporting
me to her, my ISP and other places of importance.

>From reading all of your messages  I realized that there is a group of
people
who  value honest work and are ready to stand behind it to defend it.
I really feel energized  and  confident that this digest can become good
source of information for years to come.

Now back to our spamming story.
As most of this 84 messages were very informative and definitely good
lesson  on advertising and marketing I would like to post them on my
website and make them available to Adland Digest subscribers.
The whole issue seems to be very touchy, that's why I would
like to have permission of those who wrote to me to make their responses
available to digest readers. If you don't mind just don't respond, I will
assume that your posting can be published.

Current situation suggests, that individual who accused me of spamming  was
interested in my money, which she wished to collect. I believe that she
already succeeded with it with some other people. She seemed to be
very persistent and knew how to  create atmosphere of intimidation.
The email addresses which she supposedly emailed uce@ftc.gov ,
net-abuse@nocs.insp.irs.gov were invalid. The only valid address which she
used was address to my ISP. She informed my ISP that she is going to
contact FBI  to  "Please stop this denial of service attack!!!"
My ISP contacted me and didn't have any doubts regarding  Adland digest.
They replied to her that US regulation regardless how noble they are, don't
apply  in  Canada.

So my friends we are dealing here with highly motivated extortion
specialist.
I don't know what to say but I think she should pay for it as this type of
activity is dangerous for net and is criminal.

I believe that's enough about spamming and now it is time to come back to
our regular part.
Today only  guest article. All outstanding postings will be included in the
next digest.

How to get 100-200 hits from a
             FREE Yahoo Classified AD
                  Over & Over Agian!
                    By Sherri Lee

Yes, FREE classified ads can bring you hits.  Here's
a few tips to get your share of Yahoo's 12 Million
Visitors Per Day.

Yahoo free classified ads run for 60 days, however
they will only generate hits from your ad for 24 hours.

Here's how to change that:

First:  Review the section you want your ad under. If
you are going to advertise under the business section,
you will be presented with 2 sets of Sub Categories.

The first one has 12 sections in it.  You can post
10 ads at Yahoo, so choose 10 of the 12 sections,
for maximum exposure placing one ad in each section.

The second set of Sub Categories is used only for
searches.  Pick the one that fits your business the
best.

Second: Write out your 10 ads and save them to a file
so you can quickly go back and simply cut and paste
your ads into the forms.

When you write out your ads, make sure you change your
headline and wording slightly to match each of the
sections you have chosen.  For example, under Business
Opportunities, make your ad and headline sound like a
business opportunity.  Under Services, make your ad and
headline sound like a service.  This determines whether
or not Yahoo will accept all your ads.

Third: Follow the schedule I use below.  Yahoo has
a two day delay on posting ads.  On the third day
your ad goes up and stays on top for a few hours.
Then your ad begins to drop down to a lower position
to make room for new ads.

The schedule below will allow you to maximize the
hits you receive from your Ad on a REGULAR Basis.

1.  Go to :http://www.yahoo.com
2.  Click on the Classifieds Link
3.  Create an account
4.  Click on Submit Ad
5.  Place your 10 ads
6.  Wait three days.
7.  On the third day go back to Yahoo and repeat
    1 & 2 above. ONLY 1 & 2
8.  Click on EDIT ADS.
9.  Click on DELETE ALL
10. Click on Submit Ad
11. Place your 10 ads

Wait another 3 days and repeat.

When you write your ads out ahead of time and save
them in a file on your computer, you can quickly
replace your ads every three days.

I consistently receive between 100 to 300 hits
from my Yahoo ads by following this schedule.
Not bad for FREE promotion.
