Five Top Tips For Running Ads in Email Newsletters
----------------------------------------------------------
from Larry Chase's Web Digest For Marketers:

1. Put a very attractive offer in your ad that readers will
respond to, which you can then track for effectiveness.

2. Use attention-getting words at the beginning of the ad
to lure readers into reading the rest of the ad. Good
examples are: Free, Limited Offer, Special, First, Now,
etc.

3. Try not to use all the space up (like I did here:). Let
the copy "breathe" a little. It's more apt to get read.

4. Ask the owner of the list if he or she has testimonials
from other companies who have advertised on that list.

5. Write the ad so even you would read it if you came
across it for the first time.

From: Ralph Seward <seward@seward-co.com>
Subject:Integrated marketing

In the active discussion about integrated marketing on the internet
there seem to be two primary schools of thought.

In the first instance we have those who defend the rights of those who
design/create web sites to boldly claim that 'without a presence on the
internet you will be out of business' in the new millennium'.

The second group of opinions seem to be saying 'There's too much hype. A
Web site doesn't produce business. The promoters are mis-representing
the facts in order to feather their own nests'.

While these seem to be diverse positions, and taken singly they may be
diverse, are we not simply recognizing that the internet is simply an
electronic community?

In any community there are promoters and there are builders. Each is
necessary to the success of the other.

If there were no promoters there would be a market which might not know
about the potential available to everyone. On the other hand, if there
were no builders, designing and building their internet positions, there
would be nothing for the public to consume once they had consumed all
the 'cotton candy' offered by the promoter.

Of course there are those who mislead and confuse the internet 'wannabe'
small business-person. There are also wolves in the forest. The question
which must be placed before anyone considering 'going onto the internet'
is 'WHY'?

In spite of the promises, the alluring advertising, and, in some cases
the deliberate misleading of the prospect, the internet is not a
business. It is an adjunct to a business. It is a showroom, but without
sound management there is nothing in the warehouse to sell.

Should the internet promoter be censured? Of course, if he or she lies
or misleads. But I think that the business person who believes all that
'get rich quick on the internet' nonsense is the same person who sends
money to companies in order to be allowed to 'stuff envelopes at home
and get rich'.

You can't protect the victims from themselves. In they think that they
are going to 'get something for nothing' they will discover, all too
soon, that they have received 'nothing for something', i.e. their
hard-earned money.

Promoters? Yes, with all their gaudy, flimsy, misleading hype. They make
life interesting by building on the tiniest of truth- the internet is
the place to do business.

But thank heavens for the builders. The men and women who put down their
roots and take their time and offer up their 'blood,s weat and tears' in
order to build something solid.

On the internet or elsewhere, a business will survive and profit only if
it has what the public wants. A solid product or service at a sensible
price. It's really that simple.

Subject: Thank You and A Question

First of all I want to say a great big Thank YOU! I subscribe to many
business/marketing lists, and this is, by far, the most useful and
interesting.
It's the only one I read from start to finish.

I have a question that I'm hoping you or some other subscribers may
be able to help me with. I've managed to substantially increase the
number of visitors to my site . . .
how do I convert those visits into more sales?

Thanks for any ideas/suggestions.

Note from Moderator.

Thank you for your kind words about list.

I went to your both sites to see what type of business you are in.
First thing which I would like to bring to your attention is
your URL.
If you want to be treated seriously buy your own domain.
Cost of it is only $30  per year and gives you more credibility , it
defines your focus.

Second I noticed at your "personals" site,  that you actually redirecting
visitors to One and Only One for viewing of pictures and for things
like "making income".

If you not making enough money as their associate you should try
to duplicate what they are doing. You know their model and ways
of generating money like they do. This will cost you more effort
but it  will be your creation and you will dictate the price.

Thirdly  if you generated already enough traffic, try to sell advertising
to sites which  are in your market niche, instead of giving pay per results
banner advertising to One and Only One.

After looking at your other site at "infoworks"  I can only tell you that
this is tough business to be in (lots of competition) .
Look where I started  over two years ago
http://www.softfornet.com/default.asp and where I'm today
http://www.adlandpro.com

Adland was supposed to be  me presentation package for my
technical skills to help me find clients for my web consulting
service. Two years later it turned out that I'm becoming expert in
marketing and promotion  and use my technical skills to  keep
going my promotion site. If you are on tight budget,  promotion
and marketing is more  important than your other skills and you have
to do  everything yourself and promotion is the number one. Once
you learn this the rest is piece of cake.

In short learning how to  market is my answer to your question.
You already have some traffic to your site, now tell people who
visit you, that there is time to get paid for your efforts.

From: Jens du Plessis <jens@safari-iafrica.com>
Subject: How to do Do Business on the Net - SUCCESSFULLY

I am involved on the Net purely on a part time basis having started
writing my own pages about 2.5 years ago. I do not spend time browsing
the Net - My hobby is business on the Net and for this reason I put
together the various business web sites. I've recently started a mailing
list : "Tips, ideas and Reports - All Free" at
http://netreports.listbot.com and I think you may find the last article
interesting. mailto:freereport2@safari-iafrica.com

One of the problems in building a business on the Net is to attract
enough interested visitors, and in building a customer base one needs to
attract many to interest a few. Unfortunately commercial email is
regarded as a No-No and for this reason I started looking at other
options to generate interest from the right people, hence the mailing
list and FREE REPORTS autoresponder.

In looking at placing Classifieds and the registration of my Reports
link to Ad sites and Free For All sites I came across a few excellent
options which I believe will generate not only traffic and help my LFI
downline but some will also generate an income. I'm talking about Adland
where I can submit a classified ad to nearly 1000 sites with one click
of the mouse button!

I submit my web pages to a search engine with program I bought a year
ago and as the progam submits to a large number of FFA's I decided to
investigate this as an option to generate leads. This has now lead to my
OWN FREE Classified Ad Site, My OWN FREE FFA Site, My OWN Guest Book and
very importantly Adland, which I promote on my site and in my reports.

The beauty of these pages are that, in providing a service to other
people who wish to promote their sites as well as a links service to
your visitors, you generate traffic and leads for your own site at the
same time. Isn't that the reason why the Internet exists at all? A
network of mainly accessable links worldwide.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Note from Moderator.
Thank you Jens for mentioning Adland Classifieds as a means of
generation traffic.
I would like comment though on your statement when you say that
"I can submit a classified ad to nearly 1000 sites with one click
of the mouse button!"
I'm getting  questions regarding this matter from visitors to my
site all the time and I want to make it clear here.
As a matter of fact Ads are not submitted to 1000's of sites but
over 1000's of site decided to be Adland Affiliates. Adland affiliates
are rewarded in many ways by linking to Adland. Please visit this
page for details.
http://www.adlandpro.com/become_an_affiliate.asp
Adland affiliates keep links  to Adland on their site and promote it.
(of course this depends on affiliate how effective is his/her promotion)
When you click on affiliate link to Adland, copyright information at the
bottom of the page is changed to reflect this affiliate and email links
are also reflecting affiliate email. In short Adland at this point is
presented as owned by affiliate. You can imagine Adland as 1000 mirror
sites with one database.
Adland receives daily about 1,400 -1,600 visitors where all this
FFA are might not be getting anybody except for those who post to them and
very often using some software by various submission services.
I believe that good example for my reasoning is fact of Yahoo and other
search engines.
About 85% of traffic coming to Adland from all search engines comes from
Yahoo even if I buy advertising from goto.com.
To see Adland  affiliate list and rank go to this page.
http://www.adlandpro.com/GetAllAffiliatesRank.asp
You will see that top affiliates are generating  thousands of
hits to Adland.
In addition name Adland is being branded and many people will come
to it by just memorizing the name whereas it is hard to memorize some
sort of John's FFA at
http://some_domain/~some_user/cgi/ads/FFA/submit.cgi
When you just place link to Adland one of the  benefits is
free promotion on top of Adland pages  based on traffic you generate.
Some of Adland affiliates receive Free advertising for value of hundreds of
dollars monthly.
From: "Ron Kilgore" <ron_kilgore@hotmail.com>
Subject: Internet marketing
Dear B.F.,
Have been subscribed and enjoying your format of news letter for the
past few months now. I sincerely hope you or one of your readers can
help me. Internet marketing is a puzzle that I'm not sure I can learn.
Now let me assure you that I am comfortable with sales and marketing
from being in business for 15 years. But what has worked (and still
does) for years has generated ZERO on the net!
Recently myself and a few others have been making what a lot of people
consider good money from selling a weight loss product. We give away a
free week supply for people who would like to try it. When they request
it, we explain that there is a 4 to 6 week delivery backlog (this is
true) for the free week supply alone. We then offer them a first time
buyer special, more free product and quick delivery for ordering now.
This is of course money back guaranteed if they don't like the product.
It works great! People who are serious about losing weight don't have a
problem with this. We have only had 2 people in as many years request
their money back.
My problem is this... so far the only interest I have generated from the
internet is (mainly mlm) people responding with their own offer. Now
don't get me wrong here, the company we get the product from is
distributor based. But we found out that the majority of the people
aren't interestd in running a business, plus we make more money from
retailing (300 - 400%) the product. And with the few people we allow to
use the same marketing plan as we do, hardly anyone drops out.
Would it be possible for you or your readers to review my site and give
me some constructive criticism on the way it is set up. And some
suggestions on how to get people interested in weight loss to visit the
site as well?
Thanks again for your news letter and I wish you continued success.
Sincerely,
Ron Kilgore
Hey John,
After reviewing your site, there was one
thing that definitely jumped out at me
that you are missing.  I looked and I
didn't find any articles.  Articles are
an excellent way to establish
credibility with your customers and web
From: HERVE RADLGRUBER <hervrad@total.net>
Subject: Promoting Your Website on a Shoe String Budget
Everyone has heard that you need to generate Traffic to your website but,
for the majority of  Newbies, this is a foreign phrase.
Traffic is the number  of visitors to your website or more commonly know
as your URL. The general rule of thumb is that traffic generates a sales
ratio of  2 to 4%, This is more important than traffic.
For example, 100 visitors should generate 2 to 4 sales. This is over
simplified just to give you an idea because you do need a minimum of
1000 hits or visitors to make a proper ratio. The bottom line is making
money Online.
Here is how I generate $500 to over a $1,000 US per month  via Affiliate
Programs.
Find an Affiliate Program, preferably Free to promote. If, you would like
to know which ones I am using e-mailto:     hervrad@total.net
Promote! Promote! Promote!
I have tried some paid advertising but the majority of my revenue is
generated by using LinksRx, a submission service that offers different
packages for all budgets.
Obtain a Free trial along with all the details at
http://linksrx.com/?herver
Create mirror pages or gateways to your Affiliate site. You can get free
websites at
                       http://www.freeyellow.com/
                       http://www.hotyellow98.com/
These are great for newbies because you do not need to know html.
(computer language)
Your mirror pages will has a text link that will transport your visitors
to your your main Affiliate page. This allows you to submit more than one
URL because the URL addresses are different. I presently submit 10 URLs
daily via LinksRx.
Be consistent. I invest 2 hours a day in my Online ventures. Invest what
time you have and so daily.
You will also need to setup e-mail addresses to capture all the e-mails you
receive  from your postings. I presently receive 5,000+ e-mails daily but
do not worry, LinksRx has a great list of these free e-mail companies you
can use. I am using Hotmail but you can use any you prefer. You need to
delete these regularly. This is the most time consuming process.
Finally, always be on the lookout for new ways to promote your websites.
Once  you are making money Online, you can look into paid advertising if
you wish.
By using this method my total investment is about $60 Canadian a month.
Not bad, when you consider that my return is $1,000 US a month.
Soon, you will be on the road to generating a second income from 100's to
possible an extra thousand dollars per month.
All the Best in all your Endeavors,
Herve
