While reviewing Adland  affiliates when approving their link
to Adland, I started rating their content and marking it with
little hand sign beside them. Most of these sites are good
resources to grow your business. Either they provide useful
information "how and where" or they are themselves good example
of site promoting their own business.

Subject: Grreat Activity Using Adland!

I am a newbie to the world of e-commerce. My wife and I created our site
using our MLM's web authoring tools. The site is located at
www.nvionline.com/keephealthy.

we stumbled across Adland by accident and have been using it to generate
interest in our site. The site has generated about 250 visits in the
month that we have been up and running (45 in the last 2days). The
question is how do I get those people to buy what we are selling?

We would love to hear back from any and all of you regarding our site,
it's layout, design, etc. Please keep in mind that we are using the
MLM's server and unfortunately cannot at this time use any type of link
exchange program.

This is my first post, although short it is direct and any and all help
from the group would be appreciated.

Once again, thanks.

Ben Milano

Subject: Website Promotion

Hello,

After reading the latest issue of the Adland digest, it occured to me that
this is the place to ask advice about  building and promoting my website.
I have registered with Internic and am waiting for my website to get ready.
I have several free websites I have been working on.  The main one I am
using is at http://www.hotyellow98.com/ble .

I work full time and spend at least 2-3 hours a day on the computer.  I
have
joined several programs, gotten my own free classified site at
http://www.websitings.com/classads/sites/onlineex.htm , am on several
opt-in lists and everything else I can think of to bring traffic to my
website.
I even joined Prize Link to give away cash prizes from my site, but I am
not getting the response I expected.

If anyone would like to visit my web site and go over some of the programs
and pages and give me some advice as you have been doing with some
others, I would really appreciate it.

I know I am an amateur and need some proffesional advice.

Thanks Millions,
Leann Estes

Using Email For Business Development
By Nancy Roebke Execdirector@Profnet.Org

E-mail is by far the most widely used service on the Internet. Tens
of thousands of people ONLY have e-mail- with no access to web
sites and/or no desire to surf the web. With that kind of market,
how can one safely and effectively use e-mail for networking
online? Try these 15 successful methods for e-mail marketing:

1. JOIN discussion lists, subscribe to newsletters and ezines, and
Usenet Newsgroups. Offering assistance and know-how on a particular
subject, or asking for help will begin the "know, like and trust
you" part of the networking process.

2. INTRODUCTIONS. Determine the Introduction policy of each forum
and send out an introduction about you and your firm. Include info
on who you are, what you do, and what kind of clients you are
looking for.

3. SIGNATURE FILES.  With each request for help, answer to a
question, introduction, or other e-mail correspondence , include a
signature file where it is appropriate. I do participate on lists
where no one uses a sig file, so make sure that you follow the list
protocol when using sig files.

4.) AUTORESPONDERS. By far, this is one of THE most successful
networking tools. Autoresponders automatically send out info from a
simple e-mail request sent to it. They can be used for so many
things, including:

  a. Promotional Material
  b. Product/Service Information
  c. Hiring Help
  d. Training Help
  e. Article Distribution

...and so much more..

5. ADS. E-mail CANNOT be used to send ads to folks who have not
requested the information. However, you can run ads in various
e-mail forums, ezines, and newsletters. Be VERY sure to check forum
protocol on this usage.

6. PRODUCT DELIVERY. There are many firms that can actually deliver
their product via e-mail. Consultants, software companies,
authors/writers, and trainers can transport their product and
service via e-mail, cutting down costs significantly.

7. FOLLOW-UP.  Timely up-dates etc., greetings (like Thanksgiving
Day) or in some cases, general information can be distributed via
e-mail. Follow up is something done with EXISTING clients or
persons who have expressed an interest in future contact. It isn't
FOLLOW UP if there has been no previous REQUEST for information.

8. CUSTOMER SERVICE.  Being able to reply quickly and efficiently
to customer request, questions and complaints is an EXTREMELY
valuable networking tool .

9.NEWSLETTERS AND ARTICLES. One of THE most important tools
available to establishing credibility is the use of articles you
have personally written. Submission of those articles to targeted
newsletters and ezines is quite effective. Once you have enough
material, you can even start your own newsletter.

10. PRESS RELEASES. Many editors for both online and offline
publications prefer to get press releases via e-mail. As with all
other forums, it is necessary to ascertain that the editor does
indeed want releases via e-mail.

11. MODERATING/GUEST MODERATING. Most really useful e- mail lists
and newsgroups are moderated, meaning there is a person who is
responsible for keeping the group on track, preventing the wrong
type of messages from appearing on the list. You can start your own
moderated group, or you can volunteer to Guest Moderate a group you
are comfortable handling.

12. CONTESTS. You can use e-mail to announce, run, and promote a
contest. Again, be sure to check the forum policy on contests
before posting any kind of announcement, etc. to that forum.

13. RESEARCH. E-mail is a powerful research tool. It is very easy
to send requests for information useful to you via e-mail.

14. ORGANIZATION. E-mail can keep you organized and productive.
Through the use of Filters (mechanisms in your e-mail program that
automatically sort your mail for you) and a set of Masters (e-mail
messages already written that you can send in response to
frequently asked questions or commonly requested information) , you
will find that you can handle hundreds of e-mail transactions in
just a few hours a day.

15. PERSONAL EMAIL. It is through your personal correspondences,
that you will really get to know people, and they, you. It is not
only possible to "read" people via e-mail, (and therefore get to
know, like and trust them), but is almost impossible NOT to be able
to do so, as long as you are aware of personality styles.

E-mail is so productive, so useful, and so efficient, that I have
often wondered why I need a web site at all. It appears lots of
other folks feel the same way.

What Ezines Should I Advertise In?,  by Ruth Townsend.

I am asked quite frequently, "what ezines should I advertise
in?  I'm far from an expert, but here are some tips that may
give you some guidance in choosing which ezines you may
want to place your ads.

First of all, place your ad in ezines that are related to your
product, service or biz opp.  If you are selling fishing lures,
you probably wouldn't do too well in a food magazine.  You
may get some responses or even an order, but if you want
your money's worth, don't waste your time or money.

Find the ezines that you think are related to your product,
service or biz opp.  Granted, you will probably be coming
up with the same ezines that your competition advertises
in, but that's the best place to advertise...right where your
competition is!

If you have a product or service that is universal in appeal,
try some of the ezines that may not be exactly your
targeted market. This contradicts my first paragraph above,
but also remember, subscribers do have a personal life and
may just find your ad of interest.  Be careful here...notice I
used the word "universal" appeal here.  Also, make sure
you use an ad that you know pulls the responses for your
related product or service.

For instance, if you are marketing a cat or dog food, just
remember that the subscribers of many of the ezines have
a Fluffy or Fido and would be interested in your product.
These people are already subscribed to a number of ezines
pertaining to their business needs and don't want to bother
subscribing to pet ezines...they are getting too many
ezines now!  Your ad in an "off beat" ezine would catch
their eye and Fluffy or Fido may get some new healthy,
natural food!

Advertisers should look at the content of the ezines that
they have chosen to advertise in.  Subscribers may be
turned off seeing the same article in multiple ezines and
won't bother reading the rest of the ezine...the part with the
classified ads...your ad.

Also consider the number of ads that are in the newsletter.
If there are a considerable number of ads, it's possible
your ad may be lost in that sea of classified ads ... your
advertising dollars may just have been wasted.

Next, you need to consider the circulation of the ezines
you have chosen. Don't expect the same results from an
ezine with thousands of subscribers to an ezine that has
a circulation of a few hundred. Its hard to know what kind
of response you will get from your ezine advertising as
there are other factors to consider such as a poorly
written ad or ineffective headlines.

As far as circulation numbers, you just have to trust that
the publishers are stating their true numbers.  As of yet,
there is no "policing" of ezines.

Next, consider the cost of the ad.  With each ezine having
their own ad rates and really no set standard, you have to
do a little math yourself to compare the various ad rates in
the ezines you are considering to advertise in.

An ezine with a circulation of 500 with an ad rate of $5,
works out to 100 subscribers for each dollar spent or $.01
each.  However, an ezine with 5,000 subscribers charging
$25.00 works out to 200 subscribers for each dollar spent
or $.005 each.

These are just some things you need to keep in mind
when you are deciding which ezines to place your ads in.

When my mom decided to improve her computer skills, she threw herself

instructional books from the library.  After about a month the
librarian commented, "Wow!  You must really be getting knowledgeable
by now."
"Thanks," my mom said. "How can you tell?"
The librarian explained, "Only two of the books you're checking out
this week have 'For Dummies' in their titles."
