=========================== Word from publisher ========================

Greetings All

Welcome  117 new subscriber who joined list since last issue.

One of Adland Classifieds clients asked me to show him which ads are
getting better response at Adland so he can better target his promotion.
To do that I compiled list of Ad Headings sorted from most clicked to less
clicked.
To rate them I used industry term called CTR (click-thru ratio) which is
the percentage of clicks per 1000 impressions CPM(number of times ad was
displayed). CTR 1.5% means that ad was clicked 15 times per 1000
impressions.
Please see this page here http://softfornet.com/archives/ctrat.htm
Keep in mind that the same ad headings on different website could have
totally different  results. Considering the fact that many of you will look
for ways to market and promote your product or service, chances are that
many sites you are visiting and posting your ads to, will have similar
characteristics to Adland. This should be real help in writing your ads.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you think,  you have an interesting success story to tell, please send
it to digest as usual and indicate as such.
At the end of 1999  I will create web page and will invite everybody
to vote for the "Success Story Of The Year"
Best voted story will receive one FREE year of advertising
in the form of  small button at the bottom of each Adland page.
Adland  receives  240,000 page viewings , 45,000 unique
visitors  and grows on average 20% each month.
To be eligible for the prize,  this story has to be from your own
experience.
Everyone is invited to enroll in this upcoming Online Marketing Course
sponsored by 3STEP.com "Mastering the Art of Duplication!"
The course is designed to be used with the 3STEP.com program, but will
work for all worthwhile internet marketing.
The work schedules will be broken into blocks of 2, 4, and 8 hour, per
day, promotion work patterns.  It is commonly toted that it takes 14 days
to start a habit.   This course will work on a 30 day cycle.  Hence, IF
you finish the course you should have developed some excellent SUCCESS
HABITS!
3STEP.com's "Mastering the Art of Duplication"
will only be delivered Monday thru Friday.  Our second Course will start
being sent through the 3STEP.com's Mailing List on Monday, March 22nd,
1999. ( There is a Web View option ).   It is advisable to take a break
from this routine on weekends, or two days during the week, if you plan on
working it weekends.  Developing your Success habits is much more likely
to happen if you plan your work breaks ahead of time, especially those
working this system to strengthen their career move to Internet
E-Commerce. This is an Opt-in, or Out program, at your discretion.
3STEP offers this course for serious individuals, it will require a
disciplined ATTITUDE and self motivation.
My 1st year on the 'Net was learning and developing a system to build
major Duplication.
My 2nd year was spent implementing my marketing background with what I'd
learned of the Internet.
The results of my second year even surprised myself.  From February of
1998 to date, I have 11,000+ downline, most are in LinkOpp, and 4 other
programs. My free resource site holds 5th position for Adlands
development, 3STEP is vying for 1st position in recruitment for ClickThru,
and our 3STEP group activity in several of our 3STEP.com support programs
are earning positive notice.
There are now 50 - 60 serious netrepreneurs following the 3STEP.com
Concept of "Mastering the Art of Duplication!"
NOTE: There is no requirement to join 3STEP.com, but feel free to join any
of the support programs we offer, MOST are free to join.  The way 3STEP's
course is designed, it will work with most programs with very little
customization.
My apologies for the number of "I's" in this post, the 11,000 downline was
largely due to the quality of people that joined me in these programs
through 1998.
The 3STEP.com "Mastering the Art of Duplication!" is proven to work;
The only uncertainty to your success is 'How well you Work!
Thanx for your time,
Hope to see you aboard.
From: Chris Leilich <chris@leilich.freeserve.co.uk>
Subject: "Free" for All - Advertising
This post is in response to various posts that are praising FFA (alias Free for
All) websites.
To me FFA sites are not free at all, because here (outside USA) we need to pay
for our online time, and connections across the Atlantic are also slower than US
internal ones so that on average it takes 5 minutes to submit an ad (even when
cutting and pasting prepared ads). This means a price tag of 30 cents to place a
free ad.
I have too many problems with auto-submitter software: it submits ads to the
wrong cathegories. Ads get rejected as too long. Headlines get ignored instead
of becoming the beginning of the text. Etc. OTOH, my hand-submitted FFA ads are
scoring me 5 to 10 subscribers a day.
What I want is a partner who is willing to hand submit my adverts (with my
details) to FFA sites for a per-submission fee (make me an offer). [This would
mean that the submitter him/herself does not leave a footprint that attracts the
unwanted attention of spammers]. This kind of service would sell well anywhere
where internauts need to pay for internet access by the minute, well above 100
nations. If you are interested please mailto:ffa@businessbug.com
From: "Harvey Turner" <holton@iswt.com>
Subject: Read The Classified Ads in the ezines you receive
Hi Bodgan:
I have been sort of "lurking" for sometime reading your find publication
and making use of the information included.  I've learn a lot from you
and your readers.  One "tip" I don't remember seeing is (and don't
laugh" Read The Classified Ads in the ezines you receive.  I once
skipped through them to get to the "good stuff" and quite by accident I
landed on an ad that held something of interest to me.  I went back and
found six ads in the classifieds of that one issue that helped to make
me some money.
Since that time, I make it a point to read the classified ads in each
publication I receive, just as I do the articles.  Many times I have
found more valuable information in the ads than the regular content.
Thanks and I hope this isn't a duplicate that I just missed.
======================Site Review Response (1)=====================
From: Michael Bryant <stormkeep@yahoo.com>
Subject: Site review (issue 69)
Hi Subscribers,
   Sorry to have been missing the reviews but I've been away for the
last two months in an intensive school.
   I am saddened to see the lack of site review requests down. I had
to go back to issue #69 in order to find a review request that wasn't
answered and only one other that was answered. So let me put the call
out again! Anyone who wants their website reviewed, Please, hit reply
and send in a short request with who you are what your site is about
and why you want a review. I challenge those webmasters out there to
jump in and provide those reviews, to help these up and coming
webmasters to get their feet in the doors. You never know what a
little encouragement might do.
   Now, Let me get on with this review request. This review request
comes from Christina <visions-of-ny@usa.net> , Atwell Affiliates
http://welcome.to/makemoney.com
   Hi Christina, sorry this is so long in coming. Here goes!
   Your website was put together in a simple straight forward method.
I believe that this was the intention and it does it well. Let's the
visitor know what it is there to provide and how to get it.
   As for the web site construction, it could use some fine tuning.
The biggest tune-up it could get is in the area of graphics. While you
use the same theme throughout your site, thus reducing the loading
time of your site, you countered any benefit in loading time by
putting all those banners on the first page. I know that the banners
help you to bring in visitors, but you should have spread the banners
out through your site. Thus increasing the sites speed. While on the
subject of speed, you really should get rid of the free site. you did
a good job of hiding the fact using a redirect but when an error is
found, as in the bad link for create a website, the angelfire error
page comes up. Free sites are fine for personal homepages but if your
serious about your business taking off, I would suggest getting your
own domain and host. Makes for a faster and cleaner website.
   Your use of the same menu bar on the left was a good idea, however
the bars buttons are spread out on some pages and on others they are
so close together you have to look real close to click the right one.
I would suggest leaving them spread out.
   Your use of the 'META TAGS' is complete. Good job. You should
definately get listed in the search engines for free stuff. I would be
surprised if you didn't get listed high too!
   One last thing, your page for linking to your site is not the same
theme as the others. Other than those few things, and they are not as
many as it seems, your site looks good.
Keep up the good work!
How YOU Can Use The Internet's Most Powerful Marketing
Five easy steps to building an Internet community with your
own email newsletter--NOW!
By Woody Sherman
If you have been watching the business headlines, you know
what is getting the attention of millionaire investors all
over the world. The giant Wall Street offerings have all
been about "Internet communities." Everybody wants one.
Nothing is more valuable in business right now than leading
your own Internet community. Sites like Yahoo and Excite are
worth Billions because they have a strong community of
people who visit them regularly.
YOU can easily build your own community on the Internet.
How? With Internet marketing's most powerful secret
weapon--a low-cost, easy-to-produce email newsletter. Ezines
are dirt cheap to put out, super easy to put together, and
OH SO EFFECTIVE in building you a strong following of eager
customers and prospects. You can even sell advertising in
your newsletter to create an almost pure profit stream. I
know one entrepreneur who started his own newsletter from
his computer at work. He now pulls in over $10,000 per month
just in newsletter ad revenue!
1. Start by choosing a specialized, profitable audience to
go after. Write down a few words that describe the kind of
person you want on your list of subscribers. Look first at
people who are interested in your industry, hobby, or
special interest. Also make sure these are the kind of folks
who use the Internet and like getting email.
2. Gather helpful articles and tips to put in your
newsletter. Search the Net for articles and web sites that
offer your kind of info. Ask the authors for permission to
use their articles. Most are happy to help if you promise to
include their contact information or brief ad at the end of
the article.
Try writing your own articles. As veteran free lance writer,
Gary Christensen says, "A good how-to article is just a page
of instructions." Jot down a few ideas and craft them into
your own page of instructions. Subscribers like short
articles with short sentences.
You can send your newsletter out using a free copy of Eudora
Lite (eudora.com), your favorite mailer, a low-cost list
management service like ListBot.com, or a full-featured list
service like OakNetPub.com.
3. Build your subscriber list by announcing your ezine on
directory sites. Some leading directories that can send you
hundreds of new subscribers are at e-zinez.com,
ezinesearch.com, liszt.com, infobot.net, ezine-news.com, and
<www.meer.net/~johnl/e-zine-list/submit.html.
Also put a place on your web site where visitors can
subscribe to your newsletter. Be careful not to use lists of
addresses you get from third parties. This can lead to a lot
of problems if someone complains they didn't subscribe to
your newsletter but received it anyway.
4. Offer subscribers information on your products, services,
and business opportunities. Readers like a newsletter that
is packed with useful information. However, they don't mind
one bit if you include several short ads for your own
offers.
5. Sell classified ads. $20 to $30 per ad is probably
average. You can charge up to $50 per classified ad once
your subscriber list reaches over 10,000 (and you may be
surprised at how fast your list will grow when you promote
it heavily).
Most media owners pay millions to build a community of good
prospects and customers. With the awesome power of the
Internet, YOU can build your own newsletter community for
practically nothing. Get started today.
