Hi there:
My name is Jerry and it seems I made a terrible mistake this last weekend. I
purchased what I thought was a safelist of email names and did a partial
mailing to see what kind of response I would get. Well, you probably guessed
it! It was NOT a safelist and the world came down on me from a-z. I made
elaborate apologies to all of those that hadn't thrown their filters up, and
I provided the offendees with the name of the company selling their names.
Is there something else I could/should do. I do not want to be labeled a
spammer, and it truely was an honest mistake. I've only been marketing for 6
weeks and really was not mentally ready by the holy heck  I received. I had
only one of my programs drop me, and now they are keeping the years fee for
2 days of service.

The simple answer is Yes..
but there are several things you need to consider.

First of all, let me explain what an Affiliate Program is.
There are a vast variety of Affiliate Programs out there.
Basically, an Affiliate Program means you are marketing
someone else's product or service.

The two types are Free or the one you need to place an
order, in other words, purchase.

My personal preference is the Free variety. By Free, I mean
that they supply you with a website to promote the offer.

In essence, with either type you are in business for yourself.
You generate revenue by producing traffic to your site.
For more details on this aspect, you can refer to my previous
article, '' Promoting Your Website on a Shoe String Budget ''.

" Key Points to Look for in an Affiliate Program ''

Find a program that interests you.

Look for an offer that has mass appeal preferably
with repeat orders for your produce or service.

Make sure you get the most complete statistics available.
These can include a hit counter on your site, daily updates
on sales, tracking codes
?etc. The more details the better.

You should also get some type of compensation for Sub-Affiliates.
( A Sub-Affiliate is someone who you have introduced to the program
and is marketing the product/service like you are doing. )

Free Affiliate Programs are a great way for Onliners to produce a
secondary income that eventually can develop into a substantial
amount of revenue. It will take a bit of time but in my opinion it
is well worth the effort.

  I have not posted an article to AdLand for some time and thought I should
contribute.
  I found a great new way to advertise with 468x60 Banners called Ad Ladder.
This is not a Banner exchange. If you have ever seen Banner Explode this is
very similar but is automated and FREE. You add your Banner then tell others
about Ad Ladder. The more people who join the more sites your Banner appears
on.

  First thing right off, If you are going to seriously do business
on the internet, you 'MUST' get listed in the search engines. To do
this, you must utilize the 'META TAGS' to their fullest. I see by
looking at the source of your site that you do know about these tags.
However, You do not utilize the two that are most important to the
search engine. The tags I speak of are the 'keywords' and
'description' tags. Without them your website has a snowballs chance
in ____ getting listed. Sorry to be so blunt but it is that important.
     I would also suggest breaking the website up into more pages.
Instead of making the page so long. give the customer a chance to look
at 'what' really interests them. Not surf through the whole site.
     You should consider some animation, too. Anything to catch the
eye and get them to look at your high points. I would move on after
seeing the long pages and nothing to catch my attention.

But it is a good start. Fix those 'META TAGS' and get some animation
on the pages. Just don't go overboard. If it takes to long to load
they (visitors) will move on.

Hi Sam,
     I see you are starting out the same way I did all those years
ago. In fact, your site brought back memories of a few of my first
websites that I created. So I'm going to offer some advice based on
'MY' experiences and what worked for 'ME'.
     Please note the marked words. In no way am I saying you should do
these things and they may not all work for you. So look them over and
choose what you want or none. It's up to you.
     First the page. My website that I first created looked alot like
yours, alot of banners and links to other websites that I could get
some commission or traffic in exchange. Only one catch. The page
doesn't say anything at all about why they should click that banner to
goto that page. No reasons what-so-ever. My suggestion- Pick a few of
them and create a page for each of them. Explain what you like about
them and why they should check it out. This also gives you a good
chance to place a banner exhange on each of those pages and get more
traffic.
    I noticed you used the proper 'META TAGS'. Congrat's! I had my
website up for about two weeks before someone told me about those
tags! Try to put those tags on each of your pages and that they
include some words from the explanations on the page.
    Lower the amounts of graphics on your site. If your site has to
many graphics, the page loads slow. If the page loads slow, then
surfers will surf on through without waiting to see what you offer. I
know, I have done it!

Let me know if and when you do those changes and I'll be glad to take
a look.

Successful Advertising Secrets

The Number One Secret - E-Zine advertising, the most highly
effective method of advertising online. These are the
classified ads that you often find scattered throughout
emailed newsletters. Believe it or not, this method of
advertising has quickly become the easiest way to drive
targeted traffic to a website.

You need to see this first-hand to believe it. Before
placing my first E-Zine classified, I would not have
believed it if I had been told that a $25-$50 e-zine ad
could result in hundreds of dollars worth of sales in
the matter of a couple of days -- but it happened.

This is exactly what can happen when you have a good
product or service and advertise it in an E-Zine.
It is not difficult to realize how a targeted ad in
an E-Zine with 20,000 subscribers will pull more traffic
and orders than 100,000 or more unsolicited emails.
It does cost to place your ad, but the rewards are more
than worth the small amount of money you will spend.
It is fruitless to waste your time and money using
"bulk friendly" service providers or spammers-for-hire,
when you can have your ad sent to 20,000 or more
interested readers in a targeted newsletter for just
pennies per subscriber.

The process is very simple.

1) Find E-Zines that are related to your product or service.
Luckily, it has become quite easy to locate e-zines of varied
types and interests recently. I have found that the best place

you will need to start, maintain and track your highly
effective E-Zine advertising campaign. The Directory Of

2) Write an advertisement that prompts action.
Do not try to sell anything in your ad. Use what is known
as the "2-Step" method and the AIDA formula. Direct your
prospects to your web page or autoresponder for more
information. You only want to get your prospect's interest
in order to get them to your web page or autoresponder.
If at all possible offer something for free in your ad.

People love anything that is free. This alone will increase
the response to your ads greatly. For best results entice
prospects with free information that is related to the
product or service you are offering.

You can make your ads pull a 100% greater response just
by changing your headline. That is why the AIDA formula
is so important. AIDA stands for Attention, Interest,

3) Track your responses.
This is absolutely critical and can mean the difference
between success and failure. You must track the responses
in order to know if the ad is worth paying for again.
The easiest way to track your responses is by keying your
ad in conjunction with an autoresponder or counter.

An autoresponder is like a fax-on-demand system for email.
Once set up, anyone that sends an email to your autoresponder
address will automatically receive your sales letter or free
information in return. Most autoresponder providers will
also provide you with reports telling you exactly who has
requested your information. To key your autoresponder:
request that a specific subject be used in your ads.
Example: mailto:autoresponder@autoresponder.com?subject=key

To use a counter all you have to do is set up a special
web page for those responding to your ad. Do not advertise
this URL anywhere else. Place a hit counter on the special
web page and you will know exactly how many people have
responded to your E-Zine ad. To key all you do is create
special web pages for each ad you place and add a counter.

Which ever method you use you should be ready to follow up
with all that respond to your ad. It is a proven fact that
most prospects need to see your message 7-8 times before
they will actually buy. Effective Follow-ups are Proven
to increase sales drastically! You can Automate this by
using a service like http://www.aweber.com/?875/

I highly recommend that you Automate your follow ups because
doing it manually is very time consuming and it is very
easy to loose track and miss sending your follow ups to the
right prospects.

4) Now, Place Your Ad and Wait for the Results.
The Variables: If you chose the right targeted E-Zine
or mailing list to advertise in and you wrote a good ad,
you should start to see some action within 24 hours
after your ad is published. Generally, most responses
will come within the first 24-48 hours and then trickle
in for another week or so.

Realize that there is a very high demand for these types
of ads and there may be a lead time of several weeks or
even months to get your ad published. Plan your E-Zine
advertising campaign accordingly, especially if your offer
is time-sensitive.

Test your ads by placing them in smaller (lower priced)
publications which don't have such a high demand. You should
never run an untested ad in an E-Zine that you have to wait
months to get into, just to find that your ad wasn't effective.

5) Did Your Ad Make Money?
Wait a week to decide if the ad was a money-maker or not.
If it was you should have an additional and steady, stream
of income. Reinvest your profits by placing more ads.
Before you know it, you may find that the majority of
your sales are coming from low-cost E-Zine advertising.

Believe it or not, many online marketers only advertise
using these methods. If you can find 10-15 good E-Zines
that reach your target market, you could become one of them.
One good classified ad in a good E-Zine can easily produce
more results than a "Top 10" listing on any or all of the
popular search engines combined.

If your first E-Zine ad didn't produce the results you
had expected, there can only be one of three reasons for it.
1- You advertised in the wrong E-Zine
2- Your advertisement didn't entice readers to take action
3- You dropped the ball once prospects requested more
information or visited your site.

Determine how many people responded to your ad. If it's
not many and you believe you picked a good E-Zine, try
writing another ad. If you did get a lot of responses,
you most likely need to re-write your autoresponder
message or web page or you should send more follow-ups.
