Mike,

The only submittal program that I have ever found that works with
all operating systems (including web-tv) is BeCanada Power Submitter.
They have an online version to make it really easy for anyone to use.
It is really ashame there are not more Submitters that are this easy to
use.

You can check them out at <http://www.bizzyb.com/cashlnks.htm>

Hello all!
I would like to hear of your experiences in using e-mail lists for
direct marketing purposes.  Any tips?

Also, can anyone tell me where to find "US Code, Title 47, Chapter 5,
Subchapter II, p.227."  I have seen this referenced in a warning regarding
unsolicited e-mail.  The two sources that used it have not responded to my
question on where I can find this document.  When I searched the web, I only
found the same thing--people referencing it, but not the document itself.

Any help you can provide will be appreciated!

Thanks,

So many people who have site reviews-others tell them their pages loads
too slow because of graphics. Please do this for ALL your graphics. Why?
1. The page text will load-then graphics one at a time-so if someone has
a slow ISP-they can still see the text on your page.
2. People who are blind also go on the internet-using the ALT tag-tells
people who can see-what the picture will be before it comes up, and
people who cannot see-comes up in brail.
Try this-it must be on every graphic on the page though to work
properly.
Instead of:
<IMG SRC="http://www.wheremypictureis.com">
Do this:

From: Judy Wiryadinata <jud@indo.net.id>
Subject:Post from Jakarta, Indonesia

This is the first time I receive my Adland Digest (#90). I think this is a
good media.
In my country many people are sceptics about the idea of making money using
internet access with MLM programs and the like. They are thinking that all
of these just won't work. Of course we understand that there are programs
that won't work.
Sometimes ago I joined Web Partner program after I read its webpage several
times and tried to understand its mechanism etc. It costs USD30 (yes, I
understand that it needs money to make money). I did not tell my local
friends here due to the reason I mentioned above, but I just advertise my
webpage (they made for me to promote the business) in to so many free sites
that you can find in the internet. I also did not expect to get any
response very soon. I would rather say that I just do the advertising to
fill my sparetimes before I went to bed. To my surprise, no longer than 1
month, my upline in Canada congratulated me for my first downline as she
had received her fee. By the afternoon I received an envelope from someone
in Malaysia (its good that there is no country limitation in this business:
the program owner is in Cyprus, my upline is in Canada, I stay in Indonesia
and now my downline is in Malaysia) who sent me the fee as he deceided to
join. It is a pity that the money in the envelope was lost. There is a
clear sign on the envelope that it was opened. I read a postal remark that
the envelope was received by our post office in 'bad condition' (???). In
this situastion I become aware that it is impossible to send money in an
envelope to me here, so I asked Fred David (owner of this program) to help
me collect my fees and send them to me via bank draft after it reach
USD100. Fred agreed and so I can go on with this business. No this is not a
get rich quick scheme. It takes patience and perseverance just like any
other businesses. If you want see, its URL is http://bigfoot.com/~Currency
See you later and best regards,

Question for the list ....

Do you feel it is acceptable for an online marketer to go to an ad site
(such as Adland) and simply reply to each of the listings with his own
ad .... usually starting out with something like, "I saw your ad.  I
will take a look at your program if you will spend a few minutes looking
at mine."

I receive dozens of solicitations in my mailbox each day that start like
this.  What is the consensus of the group?

From: Judith <trabar@trabar.com>
Subject: Yahoo.com classified ads

When using Yahoo.com classified ads, you might like to think ahead.  It
allows you to put in 10 places.  Don't squander these 10 places because you
don't get to put them in for at least another month.  Yahoo will ask for a
zip code so use only one per state and make sure it is the biggest city in
the state because your ad will be visible to that metro area and also the
whole state.

Think New York City, Los Angeles or San Francisco, Denver, Seattle,
Dallas -- you get the picture.  Look up the zip codes before you start and
then have at it.  Go in and see what they ask then write your ads to be
zingy.  In other words, attention grabbing.  Your URL will be listed as the
"More listing detail" so don't include it in your text -- just refer to it
by saying "to see examples of my work, click on more listing detail below"
and double check your typing of your URL so the link will be valid.

After you've done your first ten ads, clear the cookies Yahoo placed on your
computer  then go back in and use another of your email addresses.  This
time pick 10 DIFFERENT high population cities and pretty soon you will have
all the states covered.  To save yourself time, copy the written portion of
your ad then just paste it in the appropriate section the next time you put
in another zip code.

Next make a note to yourself to redo your ads the next month and keep doing
this each month.  You will notice more visitors when your ad is first placed
because Yahoo's classified goes by date so the ones placed after yours show
up first.

The Power of Personal Promotion
By Eva Almeida

There are many ways to promote your products or services, but have you ever
thought of promoting yourself?  What?! I know what you are
thinking...promote myself...how do I make money doing that?  My answer to
you is that you may not directly make money by developing your reputation
online or creating relationships with fellow marketers; but, it will
certainly go a long way in your future recommendations of certain products
or services.

For example, in my profession as a pharmacist, I take it for granted that
people trust me and come to me for health-related advice.  Even though they
realize that I am also a sales person for that pharmacy, they still come to
me for free advice.  Why?  Primarily, that is part of my profession as a
pharmacist and also, I have made it my mission to tell people when NOT to
buy certain products as well.  I have developed their trust and when I
recommend something they know I mean it!  They believe that I am promoting
a certain product because it is the best remedy for their ailment (and so
they should because I believe it as well!).

You can do this as well!  Don't come across as always trying to sell
something just for the sake of profit.  By freely providing your expertise
in discussion forums, you will gain a reputation as someone who is there to
help others to succeed!  Believe me, you will definitely gain from this!
Your contacts will be more likely to buy products from you if they perceive
you as honest, dependable, helpful, and open to suggestions.  Someone who
is sarcastic and selfish may become successful but it will eventually
backfire by negative word-of-mouth advertising.

Dale Armin Miller, owner of the SuccessArsenal(TM) site, sums it up
perfectly:

"Many netpreneurs spend too much time trying to uncover what's "wrong" with
their current product or service, and not enough time trying to uncover why
their prospects just plain don't believe them. Sometimes marketers look at
the facts and wonder how I could pass that up. I don't have any idea what
facts they're looking at, but I do know what I am looking at: a bunch of
words. I can tell you that I'm tall, dark, and handsome, but (unfortunately)
that doesn't make it true! It's hard enough for someone to gauge your
honesty when they can see your face. No, IBM doesn't have that problem; and,
no, you're not IBM. "

Other than being as honest and sincere as possible, other ways to promote
yourself include testimonials, partnerships, and personalization.  When
people are happy with you and your products, they will send you
testimonials to thank you.  Show your appreciation by posting them on your
site!  They will respect you even more and are more likely to recommend you
to their friends!  Word-of-mouth advertising is a very effective way to
promote yourself so please take advantage of it.

If you are a part of an associate program or multi-level marketing program,
a very effective way to recruit new associates or sell your products is
through partnerships.  Team up with your enroller or your enrollees and
promote together.  My neighbour and I promote health supplements together.
She provides the testimonials (obvious to everyone just by looking at her
40 pound weight loss) and I provide the expertise being a health
professional.  If you know of someone in your program who could complement
your sales style than partner up and your membership will undoubtably
increase (since two people convinced of the benefits of a particular
program are more impressive to a prospect than one)!

Lastly, personalize your communication with other marketers as much as
possible.  Use sincere compliments (note the word: sincere!!) replying to
other marketers and include your name as much as possible.  Treating fellow
business people will earn you respect and they will think of you first if
they need your services in the future.  When emailing offers, try to
personalize the ad by addressing it to your prospect by using his or her
name, if possible.  This doesn't apply to broadcasting an ad to opt-in
lists, but includes replies to business offers. The biggest percentage of
my downline are from personal contacts that I have developed during the
time I have been in the marketing business.  I had developed a dialogue
about family and my business; then when they asked me more information, I
told them how the particular program benefitted me.  I left it up to them
to decide if it would benefit them and they usually enrolled based upon my
recommendation.  Therefore, try to develop a personal dialogue with fellow
marketers first and when the conversation leads to your business, tell them
the benefits to yourself and more importantly how it could benefit them and
you will be on your way to success!!

eCommerce: Is it as Dangerous as People Say?
By Joseph Jobst

One of the biggest misconceptions regarding electronic commerce
has to do with safety of putting your credit card on the Net.
Is it really safe?

Let?s back up a bit. Is our current "real world" method of
commerce safe?
"Everyday people put credit card numbers, tax Ids, social
security numbers, you name it, in a paper envelope, seal it with
spit, and stick it in an unlocked box on the side of the street
... for a government agency to deliver ...!"
How?s that for secure? The point is well taken.

And the mail isn?t the only avenue to which we trust our
treasured information.  We readily give this information to
people over the phone, in person, and via the fax machine.
What about faxes? Faxes use phones lines to transmit data.
Hmmm ... sounds a lot like the Internet.  It?s very similar
except that millions of dollars are spent in encryption and
safety measures on the Net, while you probably haven?t heard of
that concept applied to faxes.

The Internet is actually one of the safest places to conduct
business today. As the consumer you must protect yourself on the
Net as you would in the real world. We all know the rules; such
as not to give our ATM PIN number to anybody, or to be careful
of how and where we throw away our credit card receipts. It is
the same way on the Net - Be careful, know the rules, and know
your merchant when doing business.

You are most likely to be safer purchasing on the Internet than
purchasing the "old fashioned" off-line way.

The Internet is here to stay and credit card companies know that.
They aren?t going to just throw you to the "cyber-wolves".
If they want your business, and they do, they?ll protect you -
and they have. For example, when josconNetworks, originally
signed up to accept credit cards we had to sign an agreement
which states that without a signature, josconNetworks has no
recourse if a customers claims they didn?t make the order. This
obviously gives the consumer a great amount of power. Remember,
the burden of proof is always on the merchant.

What really made electronic commerce viable for the Net was the
advent of encryption techniques applied to web-servers. These are
called Secure Commerce Servers or just Secure Servers.

What?s a Secure Server?
A secure server is a specially designed web server that encrypts
information while it?s in transit. That means that if you enter
your credit card in your web-browser, it is immediately
encrypted, then sent to the destination and decrypted.
The encryption methods used are absolutely state-of-the-art.

How do you know you?ve entered a secure server Web page?
Your web-browser will inform you. If you are using Netscape, you
should check the door key icon at the lower left corner of your
browser screen. If it is dark blue and whole, your network link
is secure; if it is faded blue and broken in two parts, the link
is not secure.
If you are using Internet Explorer, the lower left bar should
say "(secure Web site)".

Note: you will only see this on the order form pages as securing
the rest of the site slows down transmission and is not needed.
Also notice the URL now begins with https: instead of the usual
http:. This tells you that you?re on a secure server. You can
click the key to display information about the company?s secure
server registration. If you are using Internet Explorer, notice
the locked padlock at the lower right side of the window. For
information on the site, you can go to File, Properties, and
click the Security tab.

Remember, only give credit card information on secure servers!

Summary:
The Internet is a safe place to conduct commerce. It better be.
Billions of dollars are on the line.

Happy Selling & Buying!

Dear Friends,

I came across a really cool Website that allows you to send out Press
Releases to thousands of magazines, and hundreds of Newspapers.
Actually, it's as easy as pointing and clicking. I was amazed that the
alphabetically categorized newspaper listings, as well as the magazines
available, including some of the most popular ones.

Every day some lucky business owner gets recognized by one of these
magazines, and his business skyrockets overnight. Also, even if a small
paper takes your Press Release, there's a good chance one of the bigger
papers fill find it and include it in their's as well. I hope that some
of the list members will find this public resource helpful.
