What Your RSS Feed Can Do For You

By Charlie W. Slack

Any online entrepreneur will voice the same goal of any enterprising effort-to increase traffic and convert visitors into customers. Even the sites appearing to only provide free information, there is some sort of payoff in the end. The benefit of maintaining a site is generally in the links or the attraction factor. For example, dedicated blog readers may simply enjoy the flow of information. However, as a businessperson, you need to know what your RSS feed can do for you.

In reality, an RSS feed has two main focuses. However, the end result is a win-win situation for the savvy Internet marketer. Therefore, it is important to keep in mind that a newsreader benefits:

  1. The Content Reader
  2. The Entrepreneur/Published

The key is to make the most of both aspects of an RSS feed and make all the article marketing efforts worth the time and trouble. First, consider why avid blog readers take advantage of an RSS feed.

Manage the Influx of Information

In truth, who really knows how many blogs are available on the Web. Some are inactive and taking up space until the website is taken offline. However, many are maintained by people who understand the importance of daily updates.

Even if a reader is only interested in one subject, check out how many sites come up with every Google search. To get through all the blogs would take a lifetime. So, when a great read is found, it is nice to know when new articles are added to the site. Include a list of several sites and it is hard to manage the influx of information. With an RSS feed, regular readers can be notified when a favorite site has added a new article.

Save Time

For the content reader, an RSS feed saves valuable time. Instead of constantly calling up a favorite site and scrolling through information, the article addition is submitted straight to the feed. Then, it is only a matter of going to the reader and seeing what has been posted on the site since the last visit. Especially for readers of multiple blogs, it saves a lot of time going from site to site in search of new information.

Anonymity

For many blog readers, a great benefit of RSS feeds and blog readers is the anonymity. Individuals can subscribe to the RSS without having to opt-in or give any personal information. With the increase in identity theft and the constant barrage of junk mail in the inbox, RSS feeds keep the mail down to a manageable amount.

Now, with the content reader pleased with the ability to keep notified of favorite blogs without effort, it is time to consider how an RSS feed benefits the publishing entrepreneur.

Audience Interest

Any good business person knows the value of maintaining a customer base. The Internet works much the same way. If you have a person that shows an interest in the product or information you provide, you do not want it to grow cold.

With today's busy lifestyles, a few days can turn into a few weeks seemingly overnight. The audience may forget how informative the site was in the past. Even if they remember, the website URL can get lost in the search of millions of other sites. However, a RSS feed constantly dumping updates and new content onto a reader keeps a potential customer mindful of a product or service.

News is the Perfect Content

Today, the Internet is becoming one of the best sources for entertainment, information, education, and business. Instead of getting news from other media, blog readers can get news of particular interest at the touch of a key. In a few minutes, the flow of information satisfies. An RSS feed becomes the ultimate source for perfect content.

Picked Up by Multiple Sites

A busy blog will often get picked up by multiple sites. An article on one site can soon be found peppered throughout the Web. In simple terms, free advertising includes links back to the site selling products or services.

Sales

In the end, the ultimate reason for any site is to provide a product or service. Although a potential client may not want what is offered today, an RSS feed provides constant updates touting new information with links to those offers. When the day comes that the avid reader needs what is being sold, he/she knows exactly where to go.

Support Updates

Finally, some sites are available for support updates for a product or service sold in the past. Any changes to a program or new features can be posted. The premium in customer service, a reader will definitely be more likely to purchase a different product or service from the same source in the future.

In short, an RSS feed is simply good business. It provides a service to people who visit the Internet. As the Web begins to surpass the traditional sources of information, products, and services, it is a major key in successful marketing and sales.

Finding Search Engine Keyword Phrases to Higher Engine Placement

By James C Hardy

A search engine keyword phrase should be selected only after you conduct the proper research.  To do this, you will need a tool.  It might be a free or even a paid search engine keyword research tool.  Either way you go, you will have to put in some amount of time before you can effectively place your content to be found.  You will need a few things to make your keyword search as effective as possible.  Over time, you will become more efficient at the process.  In the resource box following this article, you'll find a link to a web page that has a short video showing how you can use the free tool to do your research.

Here are the things you will need before you click the link below:

  • A free keyword research tool like Google Adwords Keyword Tool --> This is where you will do the search for the keywords and other suggestion words.
  • A good search engine like Google --> This is where we will check for the supply side of your keyword phrase search.
  • A good spreadsheet program like Excel --> This is where we will keep track of the keyword phrase options and determine where the best keyword potentials lie.
  • A good focused person to put all the pieces together. (hmmm...you'll do nicely)

Now, to tie it all together, you will do the following steps:

  • Open the keyword tool by visiting Google and searching for "adwords keyword tool"
  • Type in the keyword phrase you want to start with like "food catering".
  • Next, you will go to Google and do a quoted keyword search for each of the phrases you find suitable to determine the supply. You can find a quick link to a web page below that will present a short video on how to do this below.
  • Finally, you will be placing the numerical data you find in the spreadsheet you will be using to find good keyword phrases to use in your content.

This should be enough information to get you started, but the web page below will also provide a light read for greater detail on how to do all of this. Good luck and happy hunting in your keyword phrase search.
