Editor's Comments

Barry Scott -Digest Editor

This holiday season is over and everyone is getting back to the regular schedule they had before it started. We all have to go back to work and make back the money we just spent and this means market research. I always look forward to the new year for my best research as most new trends will begin now or in a short time and it is good to have the head start or at the very least be up to speed with what is new.

I would recommend researching any marketing data for any new campaigns you are considering for the spring. Now is the time to get it set up and if possible start setting up teaser ads that will give hints of what might be coming. "Curiosity" is something everyone has and once it has been started everyone needs to know!

As always any feedback or questions are always welcome, just click on my name below

Sincerely, Barry Scott Editor

A Purpose-Driven Life isn't Quite Enough

By Michael Angier

Sound core values are the foundation of a truly successful life.

Don't get me wrong. I'm a strong advocate for having a compelling purpose--one that drives you to be your best while doing some thing worthwhile. Those with purpose are people who care about things that matter who want to make a difference.

Having a driving purpose will position you to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds and accomplish great things.

But in order to be in the flow--in order to align yourself with the people, the opportunities and the companies to really make things happen--you have to discover and embrace your core values.

Did you ever wonder why some people seem to easily and effortlessly accomplish their goals? Did you ever wonder how some people just seem to have that Midas Touch? I won't say that knowing your core values and aligning yourself with others with similar core values is the ONLY key. But I DO know that core values are a key factor in any person's success--especially those who seem to do it so effortlessly.

Dawn and I have a friend who lost her job last year in one of those "right-sizing, down-sizing" moves. "Joan" was hurt, angry and scared. My telling her that something even better would come along was not met with much confidence or acceptance.

But she DID get a new job. And it was with a company that created products she could relate to--products she believed in. The company's values and hers were closely aligned. It was a good match. She liked her former job but she LOVES her new one.

When her former employer called her to ask her back--with even more money--she had no trouble turning them down. Joan had found a company and a product line that made her heart sing. And there was no going back.

She may not fully realize that it was the alignment of her values with the values of her new employer that made the difference, but it was. Perhaps if she had known her top core values, she might have even found her great job earlier.

Very few people take the time to determine and understand their top core values. That may be why so few people seem to achieve their highest and best with such ease.

Action Point
Invest the time to uncover what your core values are and why they're important to you.
It will save you time, frustration, stress, heartache and money.

Make a list of the values you hold dear and think about why they seem important to you.
Don't judge. Don't pick values you think you SHOULD have. Discover the values you know to be YOURS.

For Online Visibility, Create Banner Ads

By Menno Spijkstra

Entrepreneurs on the net create banner ads in order to better promote their online businesses. Online visibility is important especially if you seriously consider the success of your business. Banner advertising has been an essential part of every internet marketer's life. Although it is considered to be part of the older techniques in online advertising, many internet marketers still create banner ads to establish their brands on the net. Keep in mind that branding is very important for people to remember your company or product. With a quick glance at your advertisement, people must easily recognize your product or your company.

This is one of the goals of setting up banners on the net and perhaps also the reason why this type of advertising has been existing for many, many years. Once you have your ads launched in various websites, you need to monitor whether you are getting the results that you are expecting to get. If you don't monitor, you will not know whether you are getting the results that you want and end up paying for an advertisement that is not effective. Remember that the design of banner ads plays a very important role to gain better click through rates.

You must be creative in designing your ads so that it will be catchy. There are too many elements in a website nowadays and they are total distractions to many internet surfers. Often times, you will have to make several banners with different designs. This is for the purpose of testing which banners are getting more clicks and which are not. This may be a bit tedious but I'm sure it's not that difficult to do. Anyway, you have to think of the end in mind. Your diligence will surely pay off once your banners get high click through rates and eventually convert those clicks into sales.

This is actually a common practice among internet marketers. They don't stick to one banner design only but rather they experiment on a few designs. Those that don't work are eventually deleted and those that work are retained. Constant tweaking of banners are required that's why you need to monitor closely your banner ads. When you create banner ads, you will surely encounter different types of banners. One type that is commonly used is the use images in banners. This has become a common thing these days with marketers using images in their banners instead of pure text only. If you plan to follow this path, you have to know about the importance of the "hot spot".

This actually refers to the area in the banner where you want people to see right away. Thus, this spot must contain an image of your product or any important information about your product. This spot is a great deciding factor for people to click or not click on your ad. The "hot spot" must enable you to convince internet users to check out your ad. Give extra effort to have the best banner advertisements and reach out to a larger scope of your target market. Maximize the benefits of this type of internet advertising because it is low cost and a proven effective method.

Adlandpro Tips

Some detail into Adlandpro's products and services for the new or experienced user.

Common Technical Questions

My ads do not seem to be getting the hits they used to get, has this anything to do with less visitors?

No. What I would recommend is to first check and test the URL you provided for the Ad to ensure there are no errors or typos. You can always test the ad your self by clicking on the View button and then click on the ad header to see if it is going to your web site.

If everything is technically sound another suggestion would be to look at the ad itself, is it written so that it is enticing to the viewer? The Ad Heading is like a newspaper headline, they will read the story underneath if the headline grabs there attention. If the story under the heading is good they will click on the ad.

Set up an ad campaign, this is defined as offering a variety of looks to the viewer with or without them knowing this. Remember this; two viewers can be looking for the same product and come across the same ad for this product, one may react to it and one may not, this is the exact reason there has to be variety. Creating three different ads for your website, each ad with their own unique heading and ad body, but going to the same URL starts to cover a wider audience. Remember even a great ad will eventually slow down, you have to track your ads and monitor them to ensure they are performing at or above your expected level. If an ad stops producing then deactivate for a later time or edit the ad to give it new life.
