Editor's Comments

Barry Scott -Digest Editor

One of the most frequent questions and comments I receive are, "I don't know how to create an ad" and "I created a great ad and it is not getting a response!"

I hope my explanation to both will clarify this and help you on your way to a successful ad campaign. Creating an ad is easy, creating a good or great ad is a lot more work. To start let's create an ad. Where do you get the content from? Easy answer, you have a website that you are promoting and it will be related to your site content. Your ad heading, which is your headline to grab attention, should be site related or attention grabbing. Attention grabbing should not be misleading; for instance "Hurry Now! There are less than 10 Left" and when the viewer visits your site they find you have a never ending supply, may not put them in a buying mood.

Placing an ad and saying it is a great ad is like saying you have a great thoroughbred race horse before it has even ran a race. You don't know how good it is until it starts running and what results you get. The ad may have to be modified and tweaked in areas like the content or heading until you get the results you are looking for.

As always and feedback or questions are always welcome, just click on my name below

Increase the Ranking of Your Website on Search Engines

By Fergal Jones
The ranking of your website on the search engines can be increased by following a few guidelines. Although we all know that there is no hard and fast rule to getting a higher rank, a few tweaks and tricks can do wonders. It is not an easy or convenient task to rank high on top search engines like Google or Yahoo. In order to curb the competition from other website owners and competitors, it requires a well laid out plan from your side.

How to reach the top and maintain your position

Webmasters can follow the below ranking factors to get their websites on top. These are the principles that can help achieve easy-indexing of your website.

* If your website is equipped with META tags, inbound links and alternate texts on the images, then it can actually help your website achieve a rank that is quite high in the search engine results.
* The content of your website is also very crucial for ranking high on the search engine. The content should be highly optimized and unique. The selection of right keywords for the content of the website is also very important. Target the proper keywords for better results. More often than not, people use unrelated keywords or, dump the website with so many keywords that the content becomes irrelevant and the website loses its ranking.

How search engines rank the websites

The search engine crawlers or robots rank any website on two major factors. Although there are many ingrained intricacies involved in the ranking process, on a broad perspective there are two ways of tracking a website:

* The most common and popular means of tracking a website and ranking it depends upon its links. Both the inbound and outbound links are important. But the inbound links play a more important role. You can get quality inbound links if you go for Search Engine Submissions, Directory Submissions, Press Release Distribution, Blogs and Article Submissions. The quality inbound links from better or more reputed websites will increase the ranking of your website also.
* Content based tracking is the other method of ranking any website. Though it is a complex way of tracking, yet you must know that it depends on the META Tags. The uniqueness of the content as well as relevant use of keywords can also increase the indexing of the website.
* Beside these, the online modes of advertisement like banner ad placement, paid links and submissions and marketing through social media can also increase the ranking of your website.

Besides considering these ranking factors, your prime aim should be to take your website to the top of the search engine results through legitimate and honest means. Once your website is on the top of the search engine results, you can be rest assured of getting extensive business and profit.

The 10 Steps to Creating Your Website

By MJ Schrader
Creating your website can seem like a daunting task. However creating your website does not need to be scary, with these simple steps you can know what you need to do.

1 What is your niche?

Decide what topic your website is going to cover. Depending on the topic, you may want to drill down to a smaller subject. Dogs is a big category, instead narrow down to a specific breed or topic such as training. You could narrow further by choosing a type of training. If you have a business then you already know your niche.

2 What are you going to do with your website?

Some websites simply provide information. Other websites provide information and have advertisements on their site for additional income. Then there are sites that sell services while other sites sell products. Perhaps you want to start an art or photo website. It is a matter of knowing your niche and what you want from your website.

3 What will your website be called?

Your next step in website creation is purchasing a domain name. This is your web address. Typically it is good to pick something related to your niche or business. Remember to keep the name relatively short and relatively easy to remember. You do not want to use hyphens.

4 Who is hosting your website?

The next step to create your website you need a web host. A host is the company that provides access to your website on the internet. A web host rents a space to you on their server so others can find your website online.

5 What web format are you going to use?

You could use a program to develop your web site. Some require knowing html, others require knowing how to upload to your web host. Many people and companies are switching to using WordPress. WordPress is an easy to use blog format but can quickly be converted to a website.

6 What is do you want your readers to know?

Now it is time to add content. You want content related to your niche. Depending on the purpose of your website you will to provide information in assorted formats. An information website is going to be different from one that sells a product or services.

7 How will you stay in touch?

Adding an autoresponder helps you stay in touch with subscribers. This is known as email marketing and by offering your readers a digital gift they may join your email list. You can then mail them newsletters and let them know when you have website updates.

8 Do you need a shopping cart?

If you offer products for sale online then you probably need a shopping cart or at least a buy now button. Paypal offers buy now buttons. Some people use E-Junkie or One Shopping Cart as shopping carts. E-Junkie is the cheaper of the two.

9 Is your website search engine friendly?

This is an important step to creating your website and getting a traffic naturally. You want your website to be easily read and indexed by search engines. WordPress is a very search engine friendly website.

10 How will you promote your website?

A very important step to creating your website is promotion. A simple way is by word of mouth, telling all your friends and family and asking them to tell others. You can also use various forms of advertising. Add your website address to your business cards and other stationary. Another great way to promote your website is by adding it your email signature. Provide information on forums so you become an expert.

Is that it?

A website is an ongoing process, however from here it will be an easier process. Write regular newsletters to keep visitors coming back to your website. New content will help bring old visitors and new. Search engines also like new content. Your online business also needs ongoing work. This ongoing work will help your website continue to grow.

Are you wondering how to get started online? Or need a little how to help?

Common Technical Questions

How do I place your Affiliate link on my Website?

There are hundreds of types of web builder websites and programs out there that it is impossible for our support team to correctly walk anyone through this process step by step. This is not something which can be determined easily.  Imagine this example:

A person calls a mechanic and says "Where do I install sparkplugs in my car?" naturally, the answer from the mechanic would be, "What kind of car?" if the mechanic is unfamiliar with the make/model, they cannot tell this person step by step how to put the sparkplugs into their car.

The same is true for placing a link.  It is not difficult but requires some effort to complete.  Here is the best way to go about it:

1) Consult the help files of your program for phrases like "How to insert a link", "Inserting Raw HTML".  If you can find this, you're well on your way.

2) Contact the support team for the online website builder you are using. They will be able to show you how to insert a link or RAW HTML

If you have any questions regarding email notifications or if we can help in anyway please contact us.
