Methanol reformers operate on a convenient mix of methanol with water and require little electric power. The mixture of methanol and demineralized water is vaporized in heat exchangers. Whilst passing the heated catalyst, the methanol/water vapor mixture is converted into a synthesis gas consisting of H2, CO, CO2, CH4, and water vapor. The synthesis gas then passes through the purification unit, where the hydrogen is purified and delivered.
