Stress fractures usually happen from repeating the same movement over and over (such as when someone trains for a sport).
A stress fracture is caused by repetitive and submaximal loading of the bone, which eventually becomes fatigued and leads to a true fracture.
It is, sometimes called a hairline fracture, is a small crack that doesn't go all the way through your bone.
