They must have a reasonable suspicion that they can articulate that a person has violated the law. This does not necessarily mean reasonable suspicion must be proven that you have been drinking and possibly driving under the influence or impaired either by drugs or drinking. The officer might stop you for running a red light, making an improper lane change, or violating another operating a motor vehicle dui traffic license rule or offenses.
