The 10th of Muharram is a day of great significance in Islam. As Muslims, we are encouraged to fast on that day, as well as a day before or a day after (Monday or Wednesday)
I never saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) so keen to fast any day and give it priority over any other than this day, the day of ‘Ashura’, and this month, meaning Ramadan » (Hadith | Sahih al-Bukhari)
