Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a chronic health condition that is characterised by a gradual decline in renal function with time. The kidneys are essential in removing extra fluids and waste from the blood. These fluids are then eliminated through urine. A chronic Renal Disease can progress to end-stage renal disease (ESRD). At that, the kidneys are unable to be able to function adequately enough to support life kidney failure treatment without dialysis or kidney transplant. In accordance with the glomerular filtering rate (GFR), CKD is classified into five stages that evaluate the way in which kidneys are able to filter blood. Stage 1 identifies minor kidney damage and an average GFR. Stage 5 is a sign of renal failure that has a significantly diminished GFR.
