Keyword research is an important step in digital marketing. This process helps us to understand what users search on the search engine and due to this we can optimize our website’s content with specific words or phrases.
Suppose, if we have an e-commerce website and we sell shoes, first of all we always get to know what type of shoes are getting searched maximum times by the users, is it a “best running shoes” or “affordable sports shoes”? If we add this type of keyword in our website, then there will be a higher chance for our website to show on the top of the Search Engine Result Page, if any user searches with that keyword.
Two things should be seen while doing keyword research: Search Volume and Competition-
Search Volume tells us how many times the users search that keyword and competition tells us that how many websites are already ranking with that keyword. We have to find that type of keyword which has high search volume and low competition. These types of keywords have higher chances for our website to get ranked.
One more thing is very important in keyword research i.e. long-tail keywords. They are short and are specific phrases like “best running shoes for flat feet”. This type of keywords have low search volume and have higher conversion rate, because these keywords target users with specific intent.
Understand that, keyword research is a foundation of a digital marketing strategy. If we select the right keywords for our website, then there will be more traffic on our website and due to this there will be an increase in chances to sell our products or services.
