The Role of BCAAs in Supporting Brain Energy and Focus in Athletes
Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine are three essential amino acids which in group makes BRANCHED-CHAIN AMINO ACID ( BCAAs). They are called Essential as your body can’t produce them by its own and needs to be taken in the form of diet or supplement. For repairing the muscle and their growth BCAA plays a important role and also they help in better functioning of the brain too, it helps the athletes to get maximum focus and brain energy. Now we’ll learn how it helps the Athletes in many ways:
WHAT IS BCAAs?
Amino acid is nothing but the building blocks of protein, also BCAA are very useful as they play a direct role on the muscle than the liver. This helps the muscles to get quick effect on their metabolism and energy. The three amino acids naming Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine helps the body in various ways, especially in repairing the muscles and giving energy but recent researches have shown that they also help the brain in many ways such as producing energy and focus.
1. SEROTONIN PRODUCTION: When you exercise heavily, or for a long period of time, your body uses all the energy present by breaking down the glucose and amino acids, by this the level of serotonin rises in the brain which is also a neurotransmitter. As the rise in serotonin will lead to decrease the focus.

Tryptophan is also a amino acid which leads to the production of serotonin, BCAAs helps to fight against it. If BCAAs are present in your bloodstream then it will prevent the tryptophan from entering into the brain and stop them from producing excess amount of serotonin.

2. PRODUCING ENERGY IN THE BRAIN: BCAAs helps not only in maintaining the serotonin level but also helps in producing energy. While doing exercise your body uses all the energy by breaking down the glucose and amino acids. They also helps in the brain in energy metabolism, as when all the energy gets over, if BCAAs is present in the bloodstream then it will be used as the alternate energy source. This is mainly helpful during long period of exercise or during any mental effort as at that time the brain needs fuel for working properly.

3. COGNITIVE FUNCTION OF BRAIN: The working of BCAAs on cognitive performance has been studied by many researchers. Studies have show that BCAAs helps to increase both mental clarity and reaction time. For athletes, this actually means improved focus, quicker decision making, and better performance during both training and competition. Whether an athlete is performing difficult movements that require quick reflexes or participating in strategic team sports, having the mental sharpness that BCAAs can provide is absolutely necessary.

BCAAs in Athletes: Athletes doesn’t mean the one who are physically trained, but they need to have good mental health for taking quick decisions, reflex action in some sports. They are helpful in :
• Endurance Sports: long distance running, cycling, or swimming,etc.
• Strength Sports: weightlifting or powerlifting.
• Team Sports: cricket, basketball, or football.
