When your refrigerator stops cooling, what should we do? A fridge that isn’t cooling is like a person with a fever—one symptom, but many possible causes. Some issues are easily fixable, while others may require professional refrigerator repair service.
Most refrigerator problems can be repaired unless the issue is with the sealed system, which includes the compressor and refrigerant lines. Fixing this can be costly and often not worth it. However, other problems—like a faulty thermostat, defrost system failure, or broken fans—can usually be repaired at a reasonable cost with the right refrigerator repair service.
Sometimes, issues can be unexpected. We once checked a fridge making a strange noise and found a live mouse stuck in the sticky mess at the bottom of the drain pan!
Older refrigerators are usually worth repairing, while newer models are packed with circuit boards and parts that quickly become unavailable. That’s why choosing a reliable refrigerator repair service is important—experienced technicians can accurately diagnose and fix problems.
Personally, I’d always try to repair an older refrigerator since many newer ones are nearly disposable. Over the past 40 years, we’ve repaired and resold many appliances that were thrown out simply because they weren’t properly diagnosed. In fact, more than half of those discarded fridges were still repairable!
So, a big thank you to those who chose not to get their refrigerators checked properly—we’ve given many of them a second life with expert refrigerator repair service! 😊
