Ivar madam Karkidaka Vavu Bali sometimes called Karkidaka Vavu or Karkidakam Vavubali, is a significant Hindu ritual performed in Kerala, a state in South India. In the Malayalam month of Karkidakam (July–August), which is considered to be the last month of the Malayalam calendar, it is observed on Amavasya (no moon day). The purpose of the event is to honor and pray to deceased ancestors and souls in order to receive their blessings and be released. People travel to seashores, riverbanks, and other bodies of water before sunrise to perform a variety of ceremonies for Karkidaka Vavu Bali.
