A huge change to mobile and PC gaming was brought about by the advent of game modification, or mods as they are better known. These tweaks, add-ons, or custom files can enhance or modify a game to an impressive extent by changing everything from the gameplay to its visuals or even the plot.
While official game versions may be limited by the publishers' cautiousness or 'wrong' commercial strategies, mods push through those confines and take an entirely different level of gameplay experience, one which many original titles don't have.
