Birding in India

Birding in India offers so much choice that one can easily overlook a potential birding hot spot eclipsed by a popular tourist hill station nearby. One such hotspot is Kaudia forest in Kanatal, Uttarakhand. For someone who makes a living out of exploring remote birding trails of India – from Rann of Kutch in Gujarat to Eaglenest in Arunachal Pradesh – the prospect of birdwatching in Kaudia forest, which is about a 6-hour drive from the national capital Delhi, did not at first appear as anything out of the ordinary.
