In the year 1992, Karnataka State Open University situated in Mysuru, is a State Public University established by the act of the State Legislature and was brought into activeness on 1st June 1996. Ever since its establishment, this university has been pro-actively engaged in completing the national objectives of higher education i.e., to achieve access, equity, quality, affordability and accountability. Under the Open and Distance Education system, a Pioneer and Premier Centre of Higher Learning was carved out of the illustrious University of Mysore in 1996.
