7 Killer Copy Writing Tips
By Dave Sherwin
I've been really focusing on copy writing lately, and have seven copy writing tips that I've gleaned from some great copy writers. I realized I needed to work on my own copy writing when I did a webinar for my friend Kimball. We had an offer we wanted to present to his list, and I did the writing myself.
After reading it he basically said, "Let's not send people there, it won't convert." Nice. At least he was honest.
So I've been a good student, reviewed all my copy writing e-books and courses from over the years, and here's a handful of the best copy writing tips I've picked up:
1. Know your audience! Remember, you aren't trying to sell to everybody, you're trying to sell to your "Tribe," or those who are highly likely to buy from you. Who are those people? How old are they? Are they mostly women? Men? Old? Young? What common interests do they have? Identify your perfect prospect, and write to them.
2. Facts tell but stories sell. People love to read stories. A list of facts is boring- a good story is captivating. Good copy writing is often just a matter of telling a great story.
3. Write to one person, not to a group. This changes the "voice" of the writer, and makes it much more personal.
4. "FIB" your way through. "FIB" means turn Features Into Benefits. Create a two column sheet of paper and spend quality time brain storming on every feature of your offer on the left hand side. Then write out the benefit of each feature on the right hand side. The benefits are what you want to write about, not the features.

For
example,
a
feature
of a
blogging
course
could
be: we
build a
powerful,
SEO
friendly
blog for
you. The
benefit
could be
written
as: No
site
building
skills
required!
We
deliver
you a
traffic
grabbing
blog on
a silver
platter!
Make it
really
obvious
what's
in it
for
them.
5. Do a
"Brain
Dump."
Once
you've
identified
all the
benefits
of your
offer,
write
continuously
and dump
the
whole
story
before
starting
the
editing
process.
Write
the
whole
thing,
without
giving
any
thought
to
grammar
or
spelling.
Just
write
like
crazy.
Too many
writers
hamper
their
efforts
by
over-analyzing
every
sentence
as they
write.
Better
to just
get it
all out
as fast
as
possible,
then
dial it
in
later.
6.
People
love to
buy, but
hate to
be sold!
Good
copy
writing
invokes
a desire
to buy.
Have
somebody
proof
your
writing
and give
you
honest
feed
back
about
how
compelling
it is.
Put your
ego on
the
shelf
and
really
listen
to their
feedback.
7.
Prove
it! Add
testimonials,
examples,
and
social
validation.
One of
the
reasons
people
don't
buy is
because
of fear:
fear of
being
ripped
off or
over-sold.
Take
away
their
fear by
proving
that
what you
offer is
solid
and
proven.

Tips for Business Networking Online
By Jade Ashton Scully
When using the web to market
yourself of your business, the
vastness of information on the
system can be overwhelming. It's
difficult to know how to go about
using the web's fast and live system
to its full potential so that you
ensure you get the most out of it.
Below are some helpful tips to guide
you as an online business networker:
1. Research your market. Make
sure you look closely at all your
options and choose the ones that are
most beneficial and relevant to
yourself or your business. Ask
yourself what your goals and needs
are so that you don't waste anyone's
time, especially your own. Join
networks that are within your
professional field so that you
create a presence amongst potential
business-partners or clients.
2. Apply aptitude. Be a resource;
say useful, unique things that will
be a credit to your professionalism
and knowledge. If people remember
that you had good points to make and
that you made them articulately they
will remember you and turn to you
the next time they need help or
advice.
3. Build your brand name. Be
memorable for the right reasons.
4. Microtarget. Look for networks
and online communities that are
relevant to your market, if there
aren't any create your own. The goal
is to create a presence and be
present amongst people in your line
of profession.
5. Be generous. Associating
yourself with a not for profit
organisation shows that you are not
afraid to take responsibility for
cause that are not your evident
problem.
6. Show yourself. By opening your
human voice in the form of blogging
and joining networks you become
approachable.
7. Create Relationships. Make
contacts. Meet and affiliate
yourself with professionals that you
believe will be able to help you.
Make sure you convince them that you
can be an asset to them in return.
You need to be a benefit to them,
not an annoyance.
8. Build Relationships. Meeting
possible affiliates and partners is
not enough. You need to build trust
between you and your new
connections. Be dependable, if you
say you will contact a certain
person or company, do it. This will
show that you are reliable and
serious about the business
relationship.
9. Know your strengths.
Understand clearly what you do and
why you do it differently to others.
You need to be able to articulate
how you will be an asset to others
so that you come across as assertive
and confident in your capabilities.
10. Follow Through. When people
give you referrals don't make them
regret it. Respect that your actions
are a reflection on whoever referred
you and so act professionally and
timeously.
Remember, professionalism when
networking is important, but don't
feel too restricted by formalities.
Be honest, work to the best of your
ability and respect that you are not
always right and can often learn
things from unexpected sources.

Common Technical Questions
I have ads but I am not getting many
hits to my web site from the ad. Is there anything I can
do to improve it?
There are always things you can do to improve your ad.
The first is to check and test the URL (website address)
you placed in the Ad to ensure there are no errors or
typos. Then test the ad your self by clicking on the
View button and then click on the ad header to see if it
is going to your web site.
If everything is technically sound another suggestion
would be to look at the ad itself, is it written so that
it is enticing to the viewer? The Ad Heading is like a
newspaper headline, they will read the story underneath
if the headline grabs there attention. If the story
under the heading is good they will click on the ad.
This can take a few edits and rewrites to get the
results you want.

Creating a minimum three different ads for your website,
each ad with their own unique heading and ad body, but
going to the same URL will broaden your viewing
audience.
